Triumph TR6 - replacement radio

anyone have any suggestions on a replacement radio? I would like a cd player or cassette (do they still make those?) but a radio only would be fine. thanks, Matt

I used a Honda Odessy from a junk yard. Simple black with knobs and a CD player. Will fit in the original slot with some minor filing. Drives 4 speakers. You have to go to a Honda dealer to get the anti theft code. ? why have such a code if so easy to get from the dealer? Who knows. If it does not work there are internet sites that will repair and send back for not much. I am now ducking my head from purist fire and those who listen only to exhaust.

I installed a Sony CD unit with MP3 capability and it was an easy fit, at least thats what the installer said, he didnt have to cut anything and it looks/sounds great. I spent months looking for a unit that would fit the original mounts but the best i could do was an underpowered Kenwood with casette deck, i got one second hand and tried it out but it just didnt cut it, i like the top down and the music loud!

you sure the Alpine worked? It looks like it will not fit w/o altering opening. MAtt

There was no problem fitting the Alpine unit in, a little shaving of the opening was required but after that, fit like a glove. I also built a custom speaker box for the back that I moulded to fit exactly into the parcel shelf behind the seats. It is shaped to match the dimensions with cut outs for the seatbelt winders. I even put in a small door on hinges to store little knick knacks. Its carpeted too so looks like the original shelf area except for the speaker grills. I wanted to hide the speakers under black mesh but didnt like their not being protected by the grills, so i gave up a little esthetics for function...sort of a british engineering approach :-)

I can take photos and send to you if you want?
