Triumph TR6 - Mystery Part

Anyone recognize the part in the pic. While removing Carbs and cleaning manifolds I noticed this part on the frame just above the exhaust pipes. I reached underneath to feel the condition of the pipes and lo and behold this part was just lying on the frame. No attachment to anything. I looked in TRF's blue book but could not find anything resembling this part. I hate it when I have left over parts!! Help!

Looks like the windshield washer bottle holder at first glance.

Bill, I agree with JT. See attached, photo. If yours looks like this, it's the windscreen washer bottle holder without the encircling metal strap. Is your car a 71 or earlier? In 72 they started using a different setup with an anti-run-on feature.

JT, Doug,
Absolutely correct, Thank You. Looks like someone put a new bracket on. Unfortunately the replacement is for the oval shaped bottle; mine is the square bottle. So the band will not go around the bottle. Explains why the bottle is loosely held by an electrical tie. Another TO DO to ad to the list. I wonder how many miles that bracket lay on the frame, and why would someone leave it there?

Thanks again guys,

Bill,
I have a bracket for the 72 and later with the anti run-on valve. It's in pretty sad shape, but could be salvaged. It's yours if you want it.

Doug,

Thanks for the offer, but I think I will split the band and rivet some Velcro to it. The bracket appears to be brand new.

OH YA......now I see what it is.

It's the thingamajig bracket the holds the whatchamacallit bottle that squirts blue stuff onto the glass thingamabob.

Thanx Don.
