Triumph TR6 - Gunst Bearing Instructions

Guys

Greetings from TR6 homeland.

I have just received a package from Hr Gunst with one of his clutch release bearings. Gearbox is on the way back from rebuild and I hope to fit it at the weekend. However, Hr Gunst's 3 page instructions are in German and whilst it all looks fairly obvious it would be useful to read an english translation.

I know the Gunst bearing is popolar in North America and I wondered if anybody had an English copy of the instructions they could e-mail to me.

Don't have the instruction translation readily available, but can tell you this much. Do not use a Gunst bearing with a Borg & Beck clutch cover, I would recommend using an LUK unit. How do I know? Let's just put it down to the voice of bad experience and never speak of it again.

The curved fingers of the B&B unit and the rounded surface of the Gunst bearing just do not seat well together. Flat fingers, such as those on the LUK unit work fine.

Thanks for that. Hr Gunst was most specific on the telephone in supporting your statement. I have an LUK pressure plate and driven plate already fixed to the flywheel.

Tim,

You have mail regarding English instructions for Gunst bearing installation. If it does not get through, please post back on this thread.

Give us some feedback after a few hunded miles. I was planning to use the Gunst bearing with the Sachs clutch when I changed a few months ago but came across a few negative posts. I went instead with the KOYO bearing and to-date am very happy with the clutch release feel after several hundred miles. I replaced an earlier aftermarked B&B clutch which was unbelievably heavy and unpleasant to operate.

Will do, we are taking the 6 to the TR Register Euromeet in Rimini (Italy)and then on to Greece for a week, in mid September. 3,000 miles+ with mountain passes planned in Switzerland both ways. I will report back after then.
