Triumph TR3 - Front Engine Mounts

I have noticed over the past couple of years that my engine is sinking (yes I said sinking). The front engine mounts are deteriorating. I currently have the front off along with the radiator. I believe all I need to do is remove the nut on top and jack the engine up. Then remove the mounts and replace. (I hope)Any help please.

Thanks

That's all Russ. But because of the wedge angles, they are hard to get out the holes and the new ones back in. But keep at it. It's the only way. You may have to enlarge or slot the holes a bit (not too much) to get the new ones in.

Also take a look at your unner fender (wing) just below your air filters. With the flexing of your gummy front engine mounts, I'll bet you have removed the paint on the bottoms curves of your air filters and the inner fender wher they have been hitting.

Thanks for the reply Don; and yes you are correct about the air filters. I have Weber Downdrafts and they have been hitting the inner finder. What finally happened was that the generator started hitting the bracket for the Right handed steering mount, which in turn loosened the belt. Should have everything back in place next weekend.

Again Don Thanks, it seems you’re always there when we need you.

Don; its 1:00 AM and I just completed installing the engine mounts. What a job, I did not enlarge any of the holes. It was jack up this side then that side then pry it over to the left and then pry in over to the right.

I have found over the years that I always feel satisfied when I have completed a task that was difficult of the TR. I ended up loosely bolting the mount to the engine and then aliening the mounts to the frame, very tedious but it worked.

Thanks again Don for the reply.
