The ad states:
"As you can see from all the photos there are some marks and damage to the fenders and the running boards, the frame is in good shape and the floors are good but could ultimately benefit from replacing. The interior is all-orginal including the carpets and is complete.
The top is the original and in decent shape, the rear plastic window is intact which is rare. This car needs a little TLC to make it a perfect car."
The "all original" interior looks like vinyl seats, red carpet and an aluminum turned dash. The "original" top is white vinyl, and "decent shape, the rear plastic window is in tact, which is rare" is interesting, since the window is so yellowed you can't see through it.
This is a very tired car, needing a total body off chassis restoration. It will need wood, body work, interior, top, wiring and probably a mechanical reconditioning too. The restoration alone could easily and quickly pass 30k. It could be a fun project for someone, it is all there. The car is nothing like the description, though.

Looks like it had a typical mid-70s restoration with the turned metal dash and Amco vinyl interior. Nice restoration project, David says it all. George

Were there any '53 TD's with the rectangular tail lights and with the wiper motor off to the side?
Just answered my own question by looking at the production records - came off the line in October of '52.
Nowhere near original but, as stated already, for the right price it's ready to accept many dollars in a full restoration.

Amazing how they managed to maintain the "original carpet" when they replaced the floor boards! LOL
Good grief!

My question is what happened to the side curtain box? Not only the hole (rust?) but it looks like its been battered.
Christopher Couper

It is rusty, but it also looks like it either got hit or somebody tried to jack the car up by the s/c box. Either way, the box either needs a lot of work or needs to be replaced.

Any bets as to "if" my questions/comments to seller make the feebay ad?

"an aluminum turned dash"

Its Engine Turned Stainless Steel

As for the side curtain box. That looks like a jacking error - it looks just like mine and that is what I did

The car has been worked over, but I would say it is just stuff that would normally have been done over the years.

Black Aamco interior was a common replacement in the 60's - again just like mine.

The turned steel dash, was another thing that folks did. The fender pads were another common add on. The headlights are chrome, but so are the headlight brackets, so I would say the owner had these done.

White top is another change. Black dash plate another.

Car produced in October 52 can easily have been registered in 53. Mine was produced in Nov 50 and was registered as a 1951.

While I feel the statement on fully original is not correct, If this sells for around $10,000 it would seem be be a reasonable car.

The spring stiffer is interesting. Wonder if the spring is weak or they just wanted a stiffer ride.

The third pic from the end shows that the car probably took a "good hit",,, enough to make the impression of the rear end casing in the side curtain box!!!

Looking at it again,,, the rear suspension "bump stops" are not there,, so maybe the rear end impression in the SD box was from extreem rear suspension travel,,,

Possibly the frame has been hit. It seems to have an indentation right beside the damaged sidecurtain box.
Also no bump stops on the front either. Wedge installed in spring to help keep he front up. There seems to be a weld blob on the rear end of the frame.

The damage to the car can't be too bad, because after all, the description says "This car needs a little TLC to make it a perfect car."
