MG TD TF 1500 - What Is This For?

One on each side of the rear housing just inside of the spring perches, arrow. They look like a factory fitting, but naturally, I don't know if that's true or what their for. PJ

They serve no function on a TD or TF; perhaps our Y-type owners can tell us if they are used on that car?

I think this got hashed over about 6 months ago. I think the consensus was that it was used as a tie down for transport. While all TF's had them, not all TD's did. My TF does but the 52 TD does not.

Those brackets for when you could get LUVAX rear shocks to stiffen up the rear suspension. I have only sen one TF1500 with Luvax shpcks fitted from new.

What is LUVAX shocks????? Are these tube type or a variation of lever shocks?

They are a rotary vane type of shock used in TA/TB and earlier MG's.
