MG TD TF 1500 - Vinyl re-coloring

I am the process of restoring a 1950 TD which was basically just a "bucket of bolts" when purchased. It had been in a shed in a knockdown condition for 20 years and in another shed for 15 years prior to that. The previous owner had ideas of restoring it and in his enthusiasm he purchased a kit for the seats in white ??!! ugh. I thought I may be able to change the color, however not with an ordinary vinyl paint. I stumbled acroee a site www.bryndana.com which manufacturers a product called Colorbond. The company says it is a molecular bonding paint which is permanant and does not peel or crack. Has anyone heard or used this product. I am unable to buy this in Australia for there is no agent and the manufacturer is reluctant to export a couple of cans to me.
I would be interested if anyone has any thoughts on this for I don't wish to use the "white upholstry" unless I was thinking of going into the wedding using wedding cars tonbridge industry. It would be ashame just to throw out the upholstry into the bin.

I used a custom mixed PPG paint for plastic and vinyl. A PPG paint shop can set you up.

Thank you for your reply David, but what or who is a PPG paint shop?
John..Sydney, Australia.
J Walton

PPG Pittsburg Paint and Glass. Look for an auto body supplier, hopefully PPG is there. If. to, find a competitor who is and ask for their equivalent.

John, you need a vinyl dye.

Thank you all for your replies. I will chase up tomorrow to see if I can locate a source for vinyl dye.

This tread sent me off doing some research. Some recommend Duplicolor.

Dave, I think Duplicolor's product is a paint, I may be wrong but in time it may peel or wear off. Have a look at www.bryndana.com they have a vinyl treatment which they say impregnates the vinyl and is permanent. Unfortunately we cannot purchase it here.
