MG TD TF 1500 - Turn signal flasher can location

I have seen several TDs with the small turn signal flasher can located in different locations, mine just hangs from the three wires. Here is this to be mounted and where can I buy the mount.
Photos will help.

BTW Happy New Year to all.

From all I have seen and read, the original mounting was just above the voltage regulator and bolted to the firewall bracket below the tool box. The original Lucas flasher can had a "L" bracket spot welded in place. A universal snap clip can be bolted in place of the Lucas flasher and the clip holds the replacement flasher.

John is almost correct for very late cars. It actually was on the other side by the fuel pump. Here is a helpful thread from the archives. My car didn't originally have turn signals, my current plan is to mount both the flasher and the relay on the tool box on the interior.

Tom my car is a March 1953 TD and the original flasher was mounted inside the drivers side bulkhead above the dimmer switch. The wiring harness will dictate whether it is on that side or the fuel pump location. You do have the option of pulling the wires through the bulkhead for outside mounting or leaving them inside, where there is actually more room.
Attached is a photo taken during wiring installation progress.
As someone mentioned the aftermarket ones used a clip like those for hanging brooms, etc.

Mine was mounted as Dave described above. Since there is variation in the factory location, I mounted it behind the dash during restoration.

Here's a picture of the original location:

Mine (May 13, 1953) is below the fuel pump... too far away to hear (with my ears anyway), thinking about moving it inside.

My car is a Mark II with the 2 fuel pumps. Perhaps this is why my flasher is on the left side.

I thank all who have replied so far.
My TD is a late 53 left hand drive. The wires are on the left side and very close to the voltage regulator. The flasher has the mentioned "L" bracket. Most of the TFs,(not TDs),I have seen have the can attatched to the toolbox. There is a fixture that is bolted to the toolbox and the flasher slips into this devise. TDs all seem to have a different way to mount the flasher. Everything that the DPO did looks very well done except the flasher. As some of the TD have had the flasher installed after being built there are lots of ways to afix the flasher. I was unaware until now,I could mount it inside;(Ala Dallas).
I will look to see if I can pull the wire back through the bulkhead. The hook on the flasher seem to small to mount on the horn bolt. Oh well after all of the major problems the TD and I have been through together this one will sooner or later be resolved.

Here's the (pobably original) location from 'the53'.

Bud Krueger

My '53 has it in the same location as Bud's, witht he same holder. I bougt a replacement holder from a catalog at a local O'Reilly Auto Parts last year. The style of flasher that Moss sells has the little "L" bracket welded in place as described by John.

My 1950 TD had Scintilla trafficators in 1965 when I bought it, probably added by the importer to respect Swiss laws. I retained the switch, but installed side lights and the relay as in the TF from the electric diagram in 1967, and put the flasher just under the fuel pump as shown in many pictures. Of course it's not original, but it looks like it and works!

(too bad I threw the trafficators away)
