MG TD TF 1500 - Todays the big day

Electrical is all done and after a short refreshment I will be heading out to fire up the TD for the first time since at least 1998. Ed asked for a youtube moment so I'll try and capture the event on video. Details later.

I have faith! Anxiously awaiting results...

Me too. Mines been down since '89 and when I see a youtube video or hear a td in person I can't wait to fire mine up.

We have ignition!!!!! 55 lbs of oil pressure at idle and the only fluid on the concrete is the radiator expelling the expanding water. Video later if I can figure out how to chop it down to about two minutes.

Praise be to the Abingdon Gods.

SWEET!!

Amazing! You ought to email John Twist when the video is up. I'll bet he would get a kick out of it since he's the last guy who saw it run back then.

You don't have to cut to 2 minutes on our account. The limit is 10 minutes if you don't mind uploading for about an hour or so.

Keep us posted. Let's see...a lawn chair and a steering wheel would make it drivable for a short distance...tempted? :)

Another one on the road. Laverne your an inspiration.
Good luck with the new addition.

Impressive! Always pleasant without some massive oil leak or bad knocking sound. George

My '53TD has been down since '91, doing a every bolt off restoration. Just a few little odds and ends and hope to fire her up late this week or next. Kinda got goose bumps.

Very cool! I spent yesterday working on an MGA that had been sleeping for a half dozen years. I can tell you that firing up an engine that you have been inside every nook and cranny is a whole lot more satisfying then trying to start 'mystery history' with DPO embellishments! I was fortunate that a friend came by and speeded up the process considerably. I didn't really notice that the muffler was disconnected until the engine finally sprang to life.

The fuel still looks a little murky...

Last week, I fired up wife's favorite TD for the first time in 8 years due to repaint & major modifications. My concerns were primarily aimed at sorting out Marshall blower with single 1 1/4" SU, but it fires right up, revs with 5 lbs boost and idles sweet as can be. Even test drove it up on the hoist. Hope this one hits the street in a few weeks. Just strung wiring harness in today!

You rock buddy!
I know you faced west ...but how many OSH were offered to the Gawds of Abingdon prior to starting?
David Sheward

Hey LaVerne...hope no news is good news? Is Youtube beating you up? It can do that, yea it can!

Haven't messed with it yet Ed. Been trying to get as much done for the weekend car show as I can. Gonna have to go into the under construction catagorey. Also been working on the riding lawn mower. Spun a bearing and pulley assembly in two on the drive. Smoked the belt. Parts got in yesterday. What a beeatch to change out the belt. Shed some blood in the process. Got the lawn mowed this morning which was a good thing. I think the neighbors sheep were thinking about moving in. I'll spend the rest of the day getting the two "T"'s ready for the weekend show. Probably work on the video tonight or tomorrow.

Lawn! Yea, the wife has that planned for my weekend as well and my mower is making an awful clunking sound. Pity...

Sprayed my first primer yesterday. Learned a lot! Some good, some not so good. Sanding coat(s) today.

Don't forget to post some pix of your show!

Dave, photo of my 53TD. Still in the air but getting close. My the way, couldn't have made it without your great site.
Thanks a lot
