MG TD TF 1500 - To Jeff of Advanced Distributors

This is an open letter to Jeff of Advanced Distributors . . . I have installed my distributor that you rebuilt for me this spring. All that I can say is WOW!!!!!

Your work is impeccable and your advance curve is awesome. The results on the road from idle to full throttle at speed are beyond my wildest expectations. What I thought was engine rattles and tappet noise has disappeared. This is the best dollars I have ever spent on an MG and I have spent a lot over the years. I shall heartily recommend your services to every MG owner that I meet. ANY T-series on the road today should have this upgrade!

John,

I couldn't agree more. I too had Jeff rebuild the distributor and the change was astonishing. I'm sure you'll see others all with similar experiences shortly.

You guys are killing me. I think my car runs pretty good right now and expected to only do a dist rebuild if it crapped out. Now I'm wondering if it's worthwhile to go ahead and do this.

Larry, send your distributor to Jeff at Advanced Distributors. You won't be sorry. No financial interest, etc.

warmly,

what was the turn time and cost? regards, tom

Hi:

Turn around time was about 2 weeks, including getting it through Canadian customs. Cost for mine was in the $130 range plus shipping. Each rebuild is based on what Jeff has to do to it.

If you send yours be sure to include the old internal plate that the points mount to. Best to just pull the dist., take the cap off and ship it. Order new points, condenser, router. wires and cap. These are extra cost but worth having it all new and Jeff supplies the best parts. As well it will then come back ready to put in the car and run.

I would also be on the recommender's list! The TF will get a Jeff rebuild. The photo shows the engine bay in the wifes 72 MGB. Fully rebuilt engine, rebuilt carbs and a Jeff rebuilt distributor set up. I could never get this thing to run just right until I installed the rebuilt distributor. The power came up and the idle went down. The car now runs perfect. PJ

Just wondering, has anybody sent their dizzy to Jeff of Advanced Distributors and running a pertronix set-up? There was such an improvement in my car when I went to the pertronix ...can't help but wonder what haveing both would be like.

David, when I sent the distributor to Jeff, he asked me if I wanted it done in electronic or points? His recommendation was to rebuild it with points as original, I think it was easier to set up the curve, not sure now, so I took his advice and was glad I did. The car runs absolutely superb and with the unit being in like new condition, point wear is at a minimum and rarely need adjusting. Don't get me wrong, I also like electronic ignition, I just took his advice, knowing how professional he is at his job. Also, I like points, their easy. PJ
