MG TD TF 1500 - TF seat slide position

Dear folks,
I need to get the seat slide rails bolted back to where they were (can't tell, due to new floor boards- the old ones were rotted out). What is the measurement from the rear end of the floor board to the two T-nut holes in the floorboard? 25 inches or so?

If that's the case, then I guess there would be 2 or 3 inches of slide rails showing in front of the seat when the seat is slid backwards to its full rear position. Am I correct?

If the T-nut holes are drilled too far rearward, the rear carpet piece might be too long and the front carpet piece might be too short.

thanks for any help,

Tyler

Tyler, I have two inches from the uppermost side rail and the end of the hinged plate with the bolt through it. My front carpet covers the hinged plate up to and under the release bracket. I got lucky with predrilled holes.

Tyler, it measures 631 mm from the back of the board to the holes. (about 24.85 inches)

Thanks Gary and Don,
Now, I can get back at it.

I measured the seat Tee-nut location in a set of original floorboards that were in my TF. The center of the Tee-nuts for the seats is 4" to the rear of the center of holes #11L and #11R in the attached diagram. This is a more consistant measurement than to the back or front edge of the floorboard.

How-to:
Locate and drill the mounting holes for the new floorboards, excluding the seat mounting holes.

Install (bolt) the floorboards into the car

Draw a line that is perpendicular to the floorboard rails and is 4" to the rear of the center of mounting holes #11L and #11R. The center of the holes for the Tee-nuts for the seat will fall on this line. The lines on the two floorboards should be a straight continuation of each other. If not, massage the line to make it straight across both floorboards and perpendicular to the floorboard rails.

Attach the seat rails to the seats. Position the seats equally on the seat rails.

Sit the seats (with rails) into the car so that the centers of the hinged mounting holes are on the line.

Move the seats left and right until the backs are centered between each other and the side panels. Keep the seat mounting holes centered on the line.

Mark the holes in the hinged mounts onto the floorboards for the Tee-nuts.

After the seat rails are bolted through the Tee-nuts, you may optionally screw the rear of the rails to the floorboards with wood screws through the two holes at the back of each rail.

Here's how the carpet looks near the seat rails on unrestored TF9052:

Lonnie,
Thanks for the information. The part about '4inches to the rear of the center of mounting holes #11L and #11R' is most useful.

My mistake was mounting the seats with the slide rails in the "full rest position" (no slide rail is showing when you look at the mounted seat). I then mounted the seats as far as possible to the rear of the floorboard to accommodate tall passengers. This resulted in a problem for the carpet: the rear piece (under seat) extended too far forward and the front piece wasn't long enough to the rear to be in the correct position.

I was trying to avoid having unsightly slide rails showing while the seat was slid all the way rearward. but guess it's unavoidable.

thanks,
tyler
