MG TD TF 1500 - TF Options

There's a sheet from a 1954 Salesman's book on eBay (http://www.ebay.com/itm/1954-1955-MG-TF-Specifications-Salesmans-Brochure-wp4780-Z5KEYN-/350727031142?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item51a8f5c966), that lists the following as options:

9.3:1 CR
AEG 122 cam
dual fuel pumps and fuel lines
6 qt. sump
wire wheels

I'm sure I have never seen any TF with dual pumps, and am also sure I don't know about the optional 6qt. sump.

Any thoughts?

I thought they were all 6 quart sumps?
MG LaVerne

Tom - I'm with LaVerne, all the sumps from the late TD had 6 qt sumps. As for the dual fuel pumps, there was never a need for them (not even the TD MKII really needed them). As near as I can tell the dual fuel pumps were a marketing ploy (this is a hotter engine and it needs dual fuel pumps to keep up with it). Cheers - Dave

I've got to learn not to be so subtle...

I also thought all sumps were 6 quarts, and cannot understand why they are listed under "options".

I agree about the fuel pumps, as well - I ran a TD/C with only one pump for damn near 50,000 miles, and it never missed a beat. Funny that all the rough TD/C cars I have seen or owned only had one remaining. I guess that's why the cars were rough - the owners didn't spend unnecessary money on them!

This reads like a dealers re-hash of TD options for North American customers (Tires). Girling & Armstrong shocks? And why list Wires as an option since most were delivered with these anyway unless for TD's?

I'm continually surprised that folks consider the two fuel pumps were used for added fuel flow (not required)when the real reason was reliability (certainly required),
