That is as nice a TF as I have seen. Bet it goes over 25 easy but the seller may want a lot more than that given what looks like a lot of time and effort into the car. The TF's have been going for a lot, especially in the big auctions....

Very pretty, but I am inclined to agree with Colin. Ivory with Biscuit was not available and the chrome wheels are overdoing it.

Hi All,
I am always amazed how some cars in some countries do well in Concours events and yet would struggle in other parts of the Universe.I guess it is how the competition judges see it or don't see it re Concours d'Elegance versus Concours d'Etat !
If you are going to look at what was original and in fine finish real detail, a few points to note:
.the bottom edge of the side engine panel should line up with the bottom edge of the front quarter panel.
.has extra material been added onto the right hand front sidescreen to make a fit to the windscreen ?
.the correct Lucas High Tension Coil needs to be in place.
.TFs had rather plain,but non PL type headlights.
.correct rubber cased 'Lucas' batteries with connectors can be re-constituted.
. the steering wheel was a 3 set(4 spoke) cellulose one originally.
.the Rocker and Tappet Covers were originally pressed steel.
.48 painted spoke wheels were fitted originally,
.as already discussed above,Ivory body coloured TFs from the factory were supplied with either Red or Green upholstery interiors and so on it goes.

It is understood owners can do what they like with their cars.However,depending on the events entered,let's get it presented as they were.

Think what you want, it's not a show queen...he drives the car...in fact, I've driven it myself at GOF South a couple of years ago. We traded cars (my TC for his TF) one afternoon and toured around.

I've uploaded a photo I took of his car on Road Atlanta during track time between the vintage races back in 2005.

It is, without a doubt, the nicest T-series I've ever driven.

As for being not being a correct car? Get serious...he owned the car as a kid and restored it the way he wanted it. Nit pick it to death if you want...but it'll stand up to anything you can put against it...look at the awards it's garnered.

But...it's going to be expensive...that's for sure...and thankfully TFs are a bit tighter than a TC or I'd be tempted.

For the absolute concours events he fits the correct steering wheel, wheels and tires, valve cover and tappet cover.

Gene, I agree with you. So it is not Concours ready, who cares. If He was going to try Pebble Beach what he has now is one thing but for most of the shows, this is a beautiful little car. My 51 Did not coe with wire wheels or walnut dash, nor a Judson Supercharger but it looks and runs nice and is what I wanted to drive. To each his own and as long as it is not a supercharged V8 or something other than what was offered as options all along who cares. I bet there are not 20 cars of our T types in the world that are true concours in our little section of the car industry. For one you would have to be insane to spend that kind of money to try and get the car done. Even now just a real show stopper can run 40 grand or better if you hire it done for a car worth 25 tops...Although this one may bring some higher money...

I'm with Gene here ...I read the add to say "I drive the car....sometimes trailer to a show". I can't help but wonder if the times this car has been trailered it was because he did put the old 48 spoke bia-ply's back on for judging! (I have both also and can read between the lines here because after driving a TF with fat radials on 60 spoke wires I would find it hard to drive mine with my old 48's on it!) I believe what we are looking at is a BETTER VERSION of what I have done with my car. Lot's of "period correct" pieces ...stuff one "could" have purchased mail-order from back adds in mags of the mid 50's...no doubt has (like I do) most of the stuff that if somebody wanted to make the car "concourse correct" they could do so in short order.
Mine is not correct either with my Black Interior & Hood (was already that way when I purchased it..and interior was in too good of shape to pitch). I will say after seeing one in Ivory with Biscuit I would go that way in a heartbeat over Green / Red / or the Black I have have! Like the man said "to each his own" ...I don't care for the red or green offered by the factory but I do think Biscuit looks better than my Black that was not even an option at all in the day! Compared to what I have seen others do to TF's I think this one is very tastefully done. Lots of little details that are correct, some small things that may not be ("1500 rear reflectors"ect) but not a lot of stuff that is just a "fraud" (how many 1250's out there running phony "TF1500" bonnet plates on them!...I know I have seen more than a few!...one that I think we discussed here a few months ago that went for top dollar!)

Pierre went over the top with this restoration. Incredibly picky with everything. Haven't seen it for a couple years, but this is a really, really nice car. Not totally original, but a really super car. Somewhere in the TSO 3 or so years ago there is a picture of it at Sebring, parked behind my green TD with my son on board. George

OBTW ...an argument that comes up on this board quite a bit ...I know, I know ...the concourse police will bust us every time on the subject of "chrome wires" being "over the top" on a "T".
In defense of those that do like the "look" of chrome wire wheels....we have been out there for a while:
1959 Movie Pillow Talk ...Ivory TF with chrome wire wheels!
Hope everybody (regardless of wheel preferences) had a Happy Turkey Day ....My bird went missing this year!
