MG TD TF 1500 - TF engine mount

Hello to all T-series owners worldwide,
I'm posting this for my mechanic friend who's fitting a 1500 engine to a '53 TF for a customer. I drive a '71 MGB and he has a number of MGBs, BGTs, midget, Mini and Moke but no TF. He is trying to locate a U-shaped(?) engine mount and bushes which Moss-UK has no idea. Brown & Gammons said that it's no longer available. I found one mount (p.no. 411-010) through the Moss-USA's on-line catalog but it's definitely not u-shaped. He said that it's supposed to wrap around the underside of the engine like a u-shape and mounts to the chassis. Is there such a part? Can anyone help? Am I making any sense???

Any help is appreciated. Many thanks!

AAron, the question makes sense but I don' know the part. I am currently reparing the broken real mount/tailshaft mount on a 55tf and there is no such part on my car. Let us know if you discover there should be. Dave. PS, Sheward would know. He spends more time under his car than in it.

Aaron, The only "U" shaped item I can think of is the trans mount to the chassis which is actually the rear mount for the engine/trans assembly. Moss item no.411-030. It holds the trans down with the use of a clevis pin.
My TF had the "eye" broken off of the trans casting which I had repaired.

I know exactly what you are talking about. It bolts to the front engine plate and to the front engine mount. I needed to find one for my TD. Abingdon Spares lists it as an engine mount bracket. I found mine at Conner Classics.

Aaron I think you are refering to a cradle part # 3 41 in the Abingdon Spares book which is U shaped and fastens to the front motor mount part 3-1. This is available used for $40 US . Regards Guy

Aaron, Now I understand. I totally misunderstood the question. My apologies.

Thanks to everyone who responsed so quickly. Now that I know this part exist, is it still available new rather than used? How can I get in touch with Conner Classics and where in the US is it located?

Hi everyone,
One more question. Now that we all know that both the 1200 and 1500 engines were used in the TF, do both engines use the same U-shaped motor mounting bracket?

Aaron

Yes.
