MG TD TF 1500 - TD vs TF wind drag

As per Kelly Johnson's book " More than my share of it all" Studebaker cars had a drag coefficient of 16% less when the headlamps were streamlined into the fenders.
Len Fanelli

Does that mean that the TF wind resistance was merely "bad" as compared to the TD wind drag of "horrible"?
Jack Long

And does adding spot lights to a TF condemn it to TD resistance? Damn! There goes my advantage.

TC is narrower (and lighter, too)!

I once read that the calculated Cv for a TC was .51.

Buy a set of goggles and fold the windscreen down, there's your new advantage. My car always SEEMS much faster with the screen down, or at least is feels that way.
John Quilter (TD8986)

Comparing wind resistance of T-series cars is like holding a beauty contest for warthogs. You've lost the game so completely that it's kinda pointless to try to guess which is less horrible.
S Maas

Subjectively, a TF seems less, The air passes smoothly over my head in a TF, while the reverse swirl in my TD is very turbulent at speed. With the radiator shell leaned back, narrower bonnet, lights faired in, and smooth rather than sharp edges running board to wings, I bet the Cd is quite a bit lower on the TF. George

I have heard the TD compared to a rolling brick ...and then, there is the TF!

Don't get mad fellas ...all in fun.

There IS a saying; "Given enough thrust, even a barn door (brick) can fly."

Jim,

That was the designer of the McDonnell Douglas F4 Phantom. It had all the aero of a tobacco barn but boy could it go.

I've discovered that my TD puts a smile on everyone's face, especially mine when flying down the local back roads at a brisk 50 mph....of course I don't think those following my parade always share my enthusiasm.

I'm an old Harley guy, and I've never been in a rush out there. Too much to see and enjoy from the slow lane.
