MG TD TF 1500 - TD pictures from Edmonton, Canada field meet

Good morning gentlemen:

After much flurry, we've finally got this far. It feels good to finally see the car on its own wheels in the daylight. All the other bits [back wings, front cycle wings, bonnet, gas tank] are all painted, but it was too late to install them for this show. Wiring is sitting nicely coiled on the passenger floor.
So:
-wing assembly
-glass and frame assembly [windshield frame is powder coated to match black topline]
-gas tank and fuel pump installation
-dash and instruments to go in
-seats are in, but will have to come out for carpet [and we're going to lay in an insulation kit along the floors, firewall and doors]
-door panels to go on
-hood and sidecurtains to go in
-fiberglass top to be fitted, insulated, and painted
-exhaust back from the headers
-heater to fit in the cockpit somehow/somewhere
-with the 16" rims and tall 185 tires, it sits about 3 inches taller than a stock TD; we'll have to figure out a way to put dropped spindles on it and block the back axle to drop it to something like stock height

But here it is, in its best BRG and Black tuxedo. I think we'll be done the rest by next Friday...

And here's a shot of the front end as we loaded it on the trailer. I'm glad the big headlights and the screens turned out so well.

On friend said "Hey - you've got kind of a Bentley Speed Six thing happening here." I'll take that as a compliment.

Best,
Dave

And one more picture to boot:

The Edmonton All British Field Meet would never run without John Crawley's expert guidance. In case you've never seen John's TF, here's a shot of it with all its gear.

Thanks John - you did a great job.

Dave,
The car is looking great. It sounds as if the "inagural drive" is not too far away. Are you still considering the trip south to the Kananaskis? With a bit of luck, you will not have to mount your snow tires.

George:

I'm not sure if these skinny Michelin X's would qualify as snow tires or not - if they don't, we'll just attach a snowblower to the front end.

I'll be your way soon - dinner at the Kananaskis Lodge sounds like a good idea.

Looks great, Just having my TD's screen parts chromed and not powder coated (but that will look cool on your car!). I think the smile on your face in your picture tells it all!! Anyone that can get into a car that is 1250cc and is 50 plus years old (car that is) with that much happiness knows where it's at!! Post some pictures when you have finished.

Cheers

John

P.S Send me some pictures of your hood when you have time.

Nice Dave! I've been looking for a grille screen such as yours. Were these aftermarket at some point in time, or are they all custom made?

Cheers

Larry:

The mesh inside the grill is just a heavy-duty mesh from a local metal supply store that I had powder-coated. I work in a high school, so after it was powder-coated, I brought the bare grill to our welding shop and had the kids cut and shape the mesh to fit. It's a really heavy mesh - too heavy, really, for the job - but now that it's in, I think it looks pretty good.

I'm hoping that the powder-coating is the key - I'm hoping it's durable and wont rust up underneath any rock chips. I guess we'll see as time goes on.

Best,
Dave

Hi Dave:
I just got back in town so my picture of the Alberta All British is a bit late but here is my "Tiffany" and display at the field meet.

Dave,
WOW! What a gret car that will be. And the TF has changed my mind. I thought I had a nice car but that is breath takin and I was just another owner.
