MG TD TF 1500 - Something is odd about the dash?

Waiting on parts, saw this on eBay, looks like MK II. John

Noticed that yesterday, John. Arranged like a TC with split placement of tach and speedo. Looks like most of the original stuff is there-just creatively rearranged. Been converted to electric starter solenoid like Gordon's car; still has Andrex dampeners in place; double fuel pumps and some version of 1 1/2 carbs. Paint scheme is kinda different-there's an idea,LaVerne. Wonder if they would sell the plinth in the middle of the back bumper? Dan

I think it has also been padded to within an inch of its life (the dash)....

at least they did not say "barn find" if you judged it by the old car ads no wonder farmers can't make a living..all the barns are stuffed with cars. regards, tom

Does the gear shift/tunnel seem different then what I have...seems lower?

Not much of a pitch for black/red combo Dan.

Putting aside the novel dash treatment (does one call that a California dash?) I particularly like the contrasting under-fender red paint and the stunning steering wheel - JC Whitney if ever I saw it... But all in all, a nice, correct-number, relatively un-molested late Mark II with almost everything that should be there (wrong carbs and missing the large air cleaner but with a radio)! Original door panels, replaced seats and carpet - I bet with perhaps brakes and some TLC it would drive just fine. What will it sell for? $8500 is my guess - note there is no reserve. Can anyone tell what year the CA tag reads? Great license plate!

Can't tell the year on the license tag, but it is a relatively recent license, probably within the last 20 years or so. Cheers - Dave

Fairly low price so far. I would agree, this is a bit of PO modification, but overall not a bad resto candidate.

Last sticker on the tag is 83. Wonder if lots of pad under carpet making the tunnel look different? Is that an extra extension on the brake pedal? Didn't notice the roll bar till now. TD3 block tag is hard to find. Like Bruce said-good candidate with some tough-to-find parts still in place. Dan

Here's an example of that peculiar shock installation.

Looks like the exhaust system is mostly suspended fom the manifold. Dont see the stock pipe clamps. Also, meaybe there was a fuel leak from one of the pumps or maybe a little fire that destroyed the nearby paint.
