MG TD TF 1500 - Replica TD-TF MG

Does anyone know if there are any manufacturers of TD-TF MG replica cars and where I can contact them?
Alwyn

There is a TD replica, previously manufactured in Australia under the name TD 2000, using Nissan running gear now being manufactured in Malaysia and a TF replica kit being manufactured in New Zealand.

Thanks for the reply, Phil. n Does anyone know of a UK manufacturer? I believe there to be a replica under the name of Douglas. Any info?

Thanks

Hi Alwyn, There is a Naylor TF. I have never seen one in this country, but as you are closer than I am why not get in touch with Naylor Bros. They will know all about it.

Cheers,

Paul.

Just for the heck of it I added a replica section to the TD web site.

I have a replica TF which was manufactured by Harper Roscoe Motors in 1984 in Altrincham. The car uses all MGB mechanical and suspension components together with a very accurate GRP body (which was imported from the USA - from Victor Antique / Noble). There were only 4 built and sold and 3 are known to be in existence and in running order.
If you contact Hutson's in North Yorkshire they might be able to produce a TF replica for you to order - but it will not be cheap.(Hutsons took over Naylor's car manufacturing business). There are a couple of kit cars around which seek to follow similar lines to the TF - but they are not accurate replicas (the Douglas was one of these I believe).
There are companies in europe who have set out to produce replica TF's, and there is another, I believe, in Australia or New Zealand.
You might be able to pick up a used Naylor. There are usually some listed on their website.
Please contact me if you desire further info on any of the items listed.

There is/was a Swiss outfit:

Minelli Motor Comapny
Witzbergstrasse 24
8330 Plaffikon (umlaut on the "a")
Zurich

It produces a TF replica using a 1.8L Ford Zetec.
Top speed is given as 170 kph (a bit over 100 mph)
0-100 kph (62 mph) is 9.5 secs

I don't care for it....but to each his own I guess:

For my money....if it ain't steal...it ain't real!

I have a Douglas TF and have compared it with "the real thing" it's pretty close.... closer than the Naylor

why don't you buy a rough real one instead of a shiny fake one? I once saw a guy crying at a Brit car show cause they wouldn't let him in. I can't imagine why.....just because he was driving a Pinto powered TD that was smoking out the registration area. I agree Buy steel and stay real.....

Sorry if I came off with a bit of the old "atitude" as far as "repros" ....but... after aquiring my TF a few years ago and spending the whole summer under it...went to my "first" "car show" with it. Durring awards they announced "this was a close one to judge...between the mgtf and the Mercedes"...the winner,a 1936 Mercedes...a 1936 with cd player, auto trans, power windows, crager mag wheels & white letter tires (not tyres). My TF was not built in Flordia 1n 1995!

Would be nice to have a real one.... but if you haven't got 13,000plus for a toy it could be a problem... why not spend 4000 on a nearly new replica (see cars for sale)
