MG TD TF 1500 - NOS TC-TD-TF steering wheel and axle FS

I just listed on eBay a NOS steering wheel, item #120840473253. See my other items for other stuff including a remanufactured 4.55 rear axle. I also have a 4.3 remanufactured axle for sale directly. Thanks.

Nice wheel, but just FYI it is not for TC. The TC wheel is a solid 3-spoke item, all black for home market, and chrome spokes and center medallion with tan rim and center for NA export.

Great article on the steering wheels by Ben Cordsen.

I restored my TF wheel, as some of you know, but there's one thing that has me curious and that is the color of the rim. Some originals are a very light colored with a marbling effect and some are a more Brassy/Coppery color, also with a marbling effect. Was this a a change during one of the years or was this just how the wheels came off the line? PJ

My restored wheel,

I've got the marbled wheel on the TD. It had some bad cracks in it, I restored it with JB Weld and POR epoxy JB weld is grey and POR is white, so I was able to fill in the cracks with marbled epoxy. Once the epoxy was cured, I sanded it then covered it with a few coats of PPG clearcoat. I finished up by painting the hub and medailan with Moss lacquer spray paint.

I dimmly remember reading that the original production TD-TF wheels were one color, and around time production stopped, all replacements were a different one. Maybe when Moss first did repros? I remember the said "guaranteed not to crack..." Mine did- they were fine cracks. Now leather wrapped. George

I still have my original wheel, and you are right about it being one colour. Mine also has some fine lines in it that could be taken as a light marble finish. The finish is a light brown or some would call it a tan. It is still in use, and is now also leather wrapped.
