MG TD TF 1500 - NOS Original TD TF Wheel on EBay - Wow!

There is an original NOS BMC MGTD TF steering wheel on Ebay currently. What I found interesting is the color of the pearl-type finish and the color of the hub - both questions have been discussed in the past.

Take a look and enjoy - wish I could buy this!

Interesting colour...wonder which is closest to how it actually is (the closeup or the wide shot)...?

I find it hard to show the real colour with digital cameras/flash/without?
(the closeup is exact colour)

This well maybe a replacement wheel for the TD/TF from 1960, but it appears that the rim is much thicker/bulkier than the original wheel I have on my car.
As you can see mine is no longer pearlescent plastic, but has deteiorated to a rough looking woody plastic.
Every year I repair the crack with some epoxy resin.

No doubt it would be a great find in today.s market.

Hey Colin,
Been a "student" of your TF for a number of years.
(It has been a great help to me!)
Never noticed the gauge in your glovebox before.
What is that?

I'd wager that the full view and the closeup of the rim are closer to the true color. The closeups of the hub look too blue.

BTW -- it sold at $886! Wow!

OMG... $886.00???

David, this is a vacumn gauge installed by the PO. It is connected via a pipe to the intake manifold. these were used many years ago (50,s) to ascertain the integrity of the engines valves and cylinders.
Not original but a "period" add on.

$900.00 seems pretty pricey for the wheel, but, if you have just spent $50,000+ on a Concours resto., its a good deal on a rare item.
I do have my eye on a good one that is on a stored TD that needs a major restoration.

That was an extremely nice wheel but I have never seen a hub that was so close to being cream color. It would never match any instrument panel that I have ever seen. Could it have been a wheel for a Y series?
