MG TD TF 1500 - Need help - Going spare for a TD.

Hello,

I am restoring and completing a 53 MG TD and in a near future I will need to order several parts from a supplier abroad, since here in Spain, there is no one.

I have got the catalogues of Moss, Abingdon Spares and Anglo Parts. Several supposedly identical parts are very differently priced.

Has anybody here any experience with ordering parts from Europe, so that he/she can recommend one of these suppliers?
Are there any others, if possible accessible through the internet?
Is it possible to obtain spares directly from SU (fuel pump and carburettor parts) or from Lucas?

I would appreciate any input to that subject.

Thanks in advance.

Jesus, in Spain.

BOSCH now makes many of the ex-Lucas ignition parts; parts are coded "GL xxx" in little yellow boxes and I'm told they're usually better quality than other pattern parts or even NOS Lucas bits.

Would BOSCH (German?) be easier to find in Spain?

Jesus, I am not sure that prices would be much cheaper by buying mail order from UK rather than the US. I have used Abingdon Spares in US, and found some parts cheaper from them than here in UK. I mostly use them, with Brown and Gammons, Moss and NTG in the UK. Have you thought about keeping a list of requirements, and coming over to UK for the big mg spares day at Stoneleigh (near Warwick) in February, or coming over for the big MG Car Club weekend at Silverstone (a great weekend - you would have a seriously good time I guarantee). I have picked up lots of bits I needed at theses events - you could then tour round and collect the other bits on your list direct from the suppliers - and meet up with loads of MG nuts just like yourself at the same time .... Jesus,
For my TF I use the following parts suppliers:

For SU parts - Burlen <www.burlen.co.uk>
For lucas parts - Holden Classic and Vintage Cars <www.holden.co.uk>
General parts - Brown & Gammons <www.ukmgparts.com>
and Abingdon Spares.

With the exception of Abingdon Spares, you can order on-line from their hard copy cataloges or their on-line catalogs.

I used to use Moss USA, but sometimes there quality did not meet my standards. Oddley, Moss USA did not sell the TF carpet kit in the color I wanted so I ordered a carpet kit from Moss UK and have been very pleased with it.

Ordering from Europe:

Moss Motors in Goleta, California, and Anglo Parts in Belgium are the fastest
NTG in England sometimes has parts the others do not have
Skip Kelsey (kelsey@shadetreemotors.com)in Pleasanton, California, can find you a parts others do not stock.

This is just my experience, I have not tried others.
