MG TD TF 1500 - Moss wiring

Finally getting back to my car after quite a while. Apparently my wiring harness is set to have the flasher relay on the outside of the firewall but I want it under the dash. I have a moss harness and was wondering if they sell lengths of wire to match the 8 connections.

Thank you gents.

They will probably call their supplier and get you an answer if you ask them to inquire.

If an original relay, are you sure you want it under the dash? They do require service at times. When the kits with harnesses to add turns cam out many years ago they had wires to install relay on the firewall. Not original, but neither are turns on any TD that did not come with them. George

The replacement harness I purchased from Moss with the added turn signals about 5 years ago had the relay box under the dash. It was to short to pull through and place in the engine compartment..which would have been my choice for ease of accessibility to make the connections.

You can buy lengths of the various colored wires from Rhode Island Wiring if Moss does not supply them.

Rob: I put a Moss fabric harness in my 52, using a 53 harness and everything fits under the dash, including the flasher.

My biggest problem was the size of the harness through the hole near the coil. Of course you start inside the car and feed everything back into the engine compartment. It might take two persons and a lot of coaxing.

I purposefully stopped shoving the harness at the point the flasher came out so it stayed under the dash and was hidden. I like my 52 to look like a 52 and only have a tiny toggle switch to turn the signals on/off. No dash or other lights. I just look at the KoTR medallions blinking on the parking lamps to tell me it's flashing.

Another trick I did to keep my harness clean was to wrap the wires going to the back of the car in painters tape before I feed it behind the slot in the master cylinder. There is 60+ years of gunk back there and I did not want he harness coming out the other side all grimy.

British Wiring carries all the different coloured wires including all trace colours. Their web site is

I just rewired the rear end and dash of my 50 TD and added a direction light flasher and switch eliminating the DPOs array of toggle switches.
