MG TD TF 1500 - Master Cylinrer Refurb
Greetings from a hot, sunny Sunday evening in Surrey, the like of which we have not seen for some time! I am refurbishing a second hand Brake master cylinder for a quick swap out of the existing cylinder in the TF1500 (it takes two pushes of the present kit to get the brakes working efficiently, all the lines have been checked out for air and the brake cylinders checked over). I have cleaned all the MC innards, but am not quite certain about the smaller 'hole' in the reservoir. The larger hole is clear through to the cylinder and I have shifted some crud from the smaller 'hole' but cannot penetrate to the cylinder. The diagram in the handbook appears to show that it does go through, but at a smaller diameter than the main shaft, so I don't want to apply too big a drill if it should either not go through or be reduced, and if so what drill should I use to persuade the opening. The text in the handbook is marvellously opaque about whether there are two feeds or just the one. Your guidance would be much appreciated. IanB |

Do not use a drill... i opened mine by just working the end of a safety pin through it....when it goes through you just see about a 1/16th on an inch of the end of the pin...IT IS TINY!!!! If you have the little welding torch tip cleaners, the smallest (?) would probably fit...but the pin works... |
