MG TD TF 1500 - M-N Supercharger Drawings

I recently received a two sheet drawing for my Marshall Nordec Supercharger from one of our fellow MG lovers. One of the sheets has a Bill Of Material (Parts List) that is so dark that one cannot read it. I am wondering if anyone out there has these same drawings who can send me a legible copy of this list of parts. I can splice it into mine and make a better drawing to preserve for the needy of the future.
Jim Merz

I would be most interested in a copy if you can make it when you are ready.
Let me know how much $.
Thanks
Michael Balahutrak

The two sheets I have would have to reproduced by a blueprint company due to their size. I can hold off until we get a more legible set of prints or have these copied as is.
Jim Merz

Hi Michæl,

The sheets Jim Mertz refers to, came from me. I have access to the reproducibles and will try to get a second set, unless Jim wants to take over. There are 2 B/Ms on the North Downs Engineering drawings. One on dwg. F452 which is quite legible, and a second B/M on dwg. F434 that Jim refers to parts of which are indeed, very faint.

I just this moment had a look at the originals I have, and I think I will be able to 'eye-ball' at least part of this B/M on F434 and come up with something better but not all of it, as parts are simply too blurred. But as it has been reproduced, it is virtually illegible.

Stand by. I will try to get a second set made from my 'source' and in the meantime, I will try to decipher the blurred cuneiform of the second B/M.

Gord, I would prefer that you take another shot at the B/M since you have the original. Much better chance of legibility.
If no improvement possible, then maybe a handwritten list of the parts as they appear would be the next best remedy.
BTW, the drawings are an invaluable aid to me in the restoration of my blower. Even without the readable B/M, one can see where the factory recommended various line support breackets and the best installation procedures.
All thanks to you and your source.

Jim and Gord: When you get all of this straightened out I would like to post what you have on the supercharger pages of the MGTD/mgtf sites.

Chris, the size of the drawings are larger than my meager computer equipment will handle. They are about 30 X 48 inches and the details would probably be lost by any reducion in size. A good portion of one of the two drawings is barely legible as it is. I'd be glad to share what I have with any other M-N owners however.
Jim Merz

Jim M: The parts list would be good and any scan of the external views would be good too

Jim or Gord,

I would appreciate a copy of the drawings also. I think I can get them scanned and possibly touched up electronically to make them generally available to all.

Hi Guys,

Jim Merz contacted me a while back an asked me if I had any M-N material. At that time I said no, but I had forgotten that years ago when I worked in Aerospace for a company call Howden Fluid Systems, I had obtained some M-N material. Howden is a huge multi-national corporation that years ago aquired Marshall superchargers. Marshall sadly no longer lives but some of their archives do. I went through ALL of the available material and turned up one good drawing pertaining to the automotive superchargers as their primary business was aircraft cabin blowers. My drawing is a assembly drawing # V5856-V5945 and a bill of materials covering Marshall J50-J75-J100 and J150 blowers. I don't want to start mailing copies off to everyone, as I do not have the time, but might be willing to send a copy to Chris for him to post on his web site or someone else to distribute.

Ciao for now,

TERRY, YOUR'RE BEAUTIFUL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I dont reccognize the drawing numbers you quoted but I have learned that any scrap of information is almost invaluable. I would gladly send you a stamped emvelope plus reproduction cost just to receive the information and data. If someone has the capability to present it on the web, that's icing on the cake. Unfortunately, I dont have that equipment.
Many thanks for your response.

Terry: My scanner can take a 9x16 and I also have a digital camera. Would be glad to take pics and then post to the website for all to enjoy.

If you want to contact me off line, we can make arrangements to get copies distributed.

Jim, Terry and others interested in the M-N drawings,

Like Chris Couper, I also have a legal-size SCSI scanner and a professional digital camera, but neither of these will do the job. If I judged the critical B/Ms to be legible, I would take them to McGill U where they have several drum scanners that could scan these D-sized drawings that are 30 inches by approx. 48 inches. But the qualifier is " ... if the B/Ms are legible" which they are not.

The drawings themselves aren't too bad; its the Bills of Materials in the lower right corner that's blurred.

The copies I sent to Jim Mertz were made from a repro buleprint machine and are probable the limit of discernable data. What's needed is a good eyeball, but don't expect too much as they 'bleed badly 'towards the bottom ie: items 10 to 1 on dwg. F434.

I am quite happy to lend these originals to anyone wanting to have a try, but I seriously doubt it will be possible to improve on this.

I find it hard to believe that John Bibby doesn't have some of this original material. For those not familiar, John Bibby is the guru of the M-N blower and somehow has amnmassed not only a lot of data, but rebuilds the (automotive ) blower in his modest works in the UK, fabricatiing where and when necessary, parts to suit.

I will take some time today and see if I can decipher the missing data, but as I said, don't expect too much.

Wouldn't it be nice, if we could consolidate my drawings and those recently located by Terry Pedicord, have them scanned, and make the digital image copies available to anyone needing them?

Gord, you are probably corrrect in assuming that the drawings you had reproduced cannot be improved.........unfortunately. The idea of a set of digital images is a great thought, if it can be done.
I must say I am very disappointed in John Bibby. I contacted him by telephone and told him of my needs several weeks ago. He said he would look around and let me know. I followed up the first communication with two emails and I'm glad I didnt hold my breath. No response whatsoever. I have heard that he is now manufacturing complete supercharger units. Perhaps that is his focus now to the exclusion of any support of the old M-Ns.
Jim Merz

Hi guys,

Alright already!!! No more nasty "information hording" emails please!
Send me your mailing address and I send copies of what I have if you'll pay for printing and post, I'm gonna guess around $5.00 a copy?
