MG TD TF 1500 - Look what I got: a stash of MG catalogues!

Some time ago my uncle called that he was clearing out his attic and that he found an envelope containing some interesting MG paperwork.

He called off what he found:
- an unusually bound MG TD operational manual.
- a lubrication wall chart for the TD/TF
- a leaflet for the Marshall-Nordec supercharger for the MG midget (T-type)
- a general leaflet for Marshall-Nordec
- an article from Motoring about supercharging the MG XPAG power unit.
- another Marshall-Nordec leaflet.
- a fold-out leaflet for the Y-type and TD
- the 'MG's through the ages' wall poster
- a reprint from Autocar about the TD roadtest.
- a J-type Midget fold-out leaflet
- a L-type Magna fold-out leaflet
- a K-type Magnette fold-out leaflet
- a TA catalogue
- an MG Two-Litre (SA) catalogue
- an MG 2.6 Litre (WA) preliminary announcement catalogue
- an MGC catalogue.

This Saturday I finally visited my uncle in Belgium and you know what? He gave the envelope to me as a present. Priceless!

What a nice find

Bruce Cunha

Wow - you have some very valuable pieces there. Take good care of those!

Congratulations!

I have on my to do list, to have a lubrication chart made up wall size for my TD. I was going to have the one in the WSM enlarged. I never knew one was ever produced. Willem, if its not too much trouble, could you measure the size of you lube wall chart for the TD/TF. It would be great to have my repro, done to the same size, just because.

What a find! You are now the custodian.

I'm very jealous! It would be easier to find rocking horse droppings!
Was it a family member who obtained the brochures when new? I am wondering if a member of the household had a Pre War MG?

Matthew.

Matthew,

Alas, no Pre-war MG's in the family.

Just after WW2, as a boy my father used to visit car dealers to ask for catalogues. Often the sly salesmen gave him 'worthless' pre-war stuff. They are the most prized items in the collection now. I suspect the pre-war part of this stash was procured this way.

My father and uncle both had TD's as their first car and they visited the factory quite often. On one of those visits the Dutch MGCC got a supercharger kit (for free) to use in competition work. Somehow the kit found its way to my uncle's TD, hence the interest in supercharger related documents of my uncle. I'm sad to say he dumped the kit 'because it knackered'.... A shame he didn't put it in the attic, too!

I have three sets of he supercharger leaflets. They are available for sale.

Tyrell,

I'll measure the wallchart for you tonight.

Willem,

Beautiful paperwork! Glad he saved this.

Could be interesting for Chris Couper's site...

Yes. William check what I already have at this page and let me know if you would be willing to scan the new items.

http://www.mg-cars.org.uk/mgtd/mgtd_brochures.htm

Note their may be some duplicates as I might have the NA version you have a different version of. That's good too. Some of mine are not scanned very well as I did it with an old scanner so you might have a better image afterwards.

Jest sent me an email if you are interested.
Chris Couper

Chris,

I'll scan the supercharger leaflets, the TD leaflet with the Y looks the same as on your website.

Tyrell,

The lubrication chart measures 57 x 44,5 cm or 22.5 x 17.5 inch. A picture is attached.
