How about a click on link? PJ
Paul S Jennings

Oh well,,, I guess it's fast!!!!!!!!!! I never heard of the guy who built it,, and he is next door in RI,,,

"Click on" links don't seem to work on this forum anymore. Don't ask me why. It's been this way for a long time now. Maybe the webmaster can respond?? Sometimes they work, sometimes not. Till then we have to cut/paste.

Why Jay didn't just use MGB disk brakes and maybe add a sway bar is my question?

"Two old guys with white hair, will it do a burnout? Never underestimate the immaturity factor". Classic and so funny! George
George Butz

Look close at how they lock the bonnet top down without a leather strap. Cleaver.
So you can move the seat "forward" to get more legroom? I disagree.

Old guys and burnouts... my 1967 Sunbeam Tiger, back in the day...

He's got a rollbar! :)

Wonder what the master cylinder mods needed were?
Probably about a $3000 mod at least but would be a great upgrade! Need Leno money!

I just need his garage.

I have done three of those Mods using MGB front suspension parts. I did use the original TD Master Cylinder but I sealed the top and installed a pipe fitting along with a small reservoir from a Toyota. I mounted this beside the battery box near the voltage regulator. You must use a 90 degree pipe outlet to clear the floor board.

The brakes were a concern, so the car was taken over to a friend of mine at Wilwood for some development a couple months ago.
Steve Simmons

I sure wish the TD was still in Rhode Island,,, for British By The Sea in June, I've got a '50's Triumph Mayflower with a GM 502 crate motor in it coming up from Fla. Would be interesting to get them side by side,,,

I think we can all say a Thanks to Jay Leno for paying for the engineering. Wilwood now has all the engineering data to produce kits for anyone that wants one. It's not on their web site yet. Steve can you get a price from your friend? I'm sure everyone would be interested. I'd like one for my Y, same brakes more weight. I've had the brakes on the TD fade to nothing coming down out of the mountains, on Angeles Crest Highway.

Curious how much "additional engineering" would be for wire wheels...I would love to have disc on the TF.
Unfortunaly if I combined the pockets of every pair of pants I have ever owned I doubt it would be as deep as Jay's "watch pocket".
David Sheward 55 TF1500 # 7427

There is a fellow in Tennessee that has been ebaying a wire wheel kit for at least a year now. Basically MGA stuff with one special casting. I've never been able to get him to hook me up with his previous customers to talk about possible issues with the master cylinder or the rear brake bias. About 1400 bucks the last time I saw it. I could use a "good" disc set up on the green hornet.

A hypo 350 in a TD seems like an exercise in futility to me. JMHO

During this past summer I purchased, about waiting 62 years, a 1952 MG TD. I was so happy I wanted to share my pleasure with the people on this site. I described the car and was told by one poster that even though he owned a number of MG's my MG looked better than all of his save 1. But I also received an unnecessary and nasty e-mail from another poster who told me, "You don't have an MG, you have a hybrid." I don't remember who wrote that nasty e-mail, but I now challenge him to write Leno and tell him what he thinks of his '52 TD with a 350 Chevy. I'll bet he doesn't. Why doesn't he understand we all can't have concurs cars and are delighted to drive an MG, especially buying one at age 85.

A positive from this...Wilwood now has the brake kit on the shelf if you should want to convert to disks...wonder how much it runs?
Bob Dougherty

The brake kit may be "on the shelf" but it's not on the web site. I have sent an inquiry regarding price and have not yet received an answer. When I do I will post it here.

The brake guy said the TD brakes will be on the market "sometime in future".

A cool use of what was no more than a parts car!

There's a place for 100% original cars for sure and I have nothing but respect for the guys who keep them that way. I also can only laugh at the "Correct Police" when they criticize someones car.

I once cleaned up and painted one of my antique but still working tractors. Boy it looked good in fresh green and yellow with new decals. I loaded on a trailer and took it to a local show where it got me free admission. While admiring a professionally restored, rare model parked nearby I overheard the "Correct Police" commenting about mine. "JD never used grade 8 hardware" and that it was incorrect! It was just a working tractor that looked good, nothing rare or exotic!

Although it's not marked I found Leno's buildings at Burbank by the burnout marks. He's got a new show coming next year and I might get cable TV just to watch it.
JE Carroll

I swear that some people go to shows just to see how many vehicles they can pick apart! I don't call them correct police, as half of them don't know what their talking about anyway. I think they do it to convince themselves they know more than anyone else.
I had that on the MGB, which has won a truck load of trophys. Ever hear, OH, I have a friend that has a friend with one of those and he said that's not how it's supposed to be! Or, they never made that shade of paint before! Where do these people come from? I get a big charge out of them.
So what's the tractor guy worried about, competition? Makes you laugh, don't it!
Paul S Jennings

This is a response from my friend regarding the kits.

We don't have any immediate plans for a production kit yet. With these types of applications, we usually wait to see what kind of interest is sparked by the publicity. We did a similar thing with the Sunbeam Tiger for Classic Motorsports magazine and had a good response that lead to offering a production kit.

I don't know what the price would be, but I imagine it would be similar to the Tiger kit, ballpark $1200 retail.

I suggest the guys express their interest here http://www.wilwood.com/TechTip/TechContact.aspx
