MG TD TF 1500 - Hood buffer pad- Paint or no paint?

Question: just purchased new hood buffer pads for the TD. They are, of course steel, with black rubber pads....so do I paint the steel or just let it be?
Thanks guys,Rich.

I painted mine black. I think that is proper, I have seen them in car color also.

Mine are satin black... but they are actually bonnet buffers...

see photo from my website. Masked off the rubber

When my fuel pump packs in, I switch to a coal fired steam boiler.

Would you like to see my plans? Nice back up system for only $22,500.

Thoralf & Other Interested Parties,

I have been using the grey ash from my fire place to soak up the oil drippings from the engine. A light covering will absorb the oil, and leave very little mark on the concrete. I use an old toothbrush to scrub the ash around and it cleans up very well. The shovel would still be a good tool for the clean up.

George

PS: the ash is from pine wood for the techies.
