MG TD TF 1500 - Headwear in a T series

Happy New Year!

I want to poll readers on headwear. Do any of you wear a helmet when you drive your T? My wife continually "suggests" to me that I should wear a helmet when driving the TF. She points out that I never get on my motorcycle without one. Racers wear them. I resist her suggestions.
Anyone out there wear a helmet in non racing driving?

Best thing ever for cold or wet weather! Seriously reduces wind fatigue on long rides too. I wore my open face Bell & real USA tanker goggles.
I wear it hunting too! - Actually I used an old one and cut part of one side off to clear the stock when shooting. It also helps when tree branches fall in the woods.

Tom, Happy New Year !! Living in Florida, there's no need for cold weather protection when driving, but your wife's concern is probably warranted considering that a collision while driving a T-series really exposes us more than a modern car, but having said that, I never wear a helmet driving the TD, but will wear goggles if windshield turned down once in awhile. Sometimes wear a british style golf cap, the one with no bill. We are such brave souls cruising in the T's aren't we?
Take care-

I wear a driving cap normally, and a leather flying cap with goggles if the windshield is down.....

in cold weather I wear a lether Convertible cap made by Stetson. In warm weather a base ball cap.

My wife wears a large brimmed hat for shade- that comes with having a cancerous tumor removed from her face.

Tom,
Each time we go on a long journey my wife always mentions our WILL and the fact that we should have updated it before we left!

As far as I can see the most important point for ladies travelling in a T Type is the hair!! Will the hat that I am wearing flatten my hair to my head. Will anyone see me wearing this!!

As I do not have much hair to me it is not a problem although I do wear a baseball cap and sun glasses.

Here in Wales it is -9deg so you wear as much as you can.

Cheers,

David

David is that C or F? Here in Minnesota it is going to be 14 below F this evening. Nice balmy winter day so far.

I guess I'll quit bitching Tom. We haven't been above freezing for about a month but haven't hit the 14 below since the first week of the month. The 10" of snow we got that week is still on the ground.

Being folicly challanged I always wear a hat otherwise I'll blister in about 5 minutes. Motor cycle helmets once many years ago when my best friend and I were headed to Oregon in the winter and a big gust of wind ripped the top in two on my Sprite. We put the helmets on and continued the drive in the snow storm. Quite a site I'm sure.

I have been wearing a helmet in my RWA midget recently. It's fun! Feels like I'm racing. I don't think I'd wear one in the T. It looks and feels right in the Midget though. Here's my Midget.

Gordon,
Your navigator looks quite stylish in his leather helmet. However, I think the bloke in the Moss catalog with the helmet and goggles looks “goofy.”
