MG TD TF 1500 - Fuel Line

My car came equipped with a rubber fuel line between the carburetors. Note the nipple-style banjo on the front carburetor shown in the image. Is this a correct configuration? I don't recall ever seeing a rubber fuel line on the pressure side of a fuel pump.

Is Moss item number 376-080 (pg 9) a braided metal line? It appears to include a banjo for the front caburetor; am I correct in that observation?

Get the Moss line. It is correctly armored.
Don Harmer

No, not original but probably not a problem. There's only 2-3 pounds of pressure from the fuel pump so nothings going to be blown off. I've seen rubber hoses on a number of cars - quick fix back in the day.
Gene Gillam

In view of the proximity to the exhaust manifold, I think the armored line is a good choice. How is the line routed between the carburetors?

The banjo style is correct, however it should have an armored hose crimped on to both ends. Any Gates Hose outlet will put a new armored hose on your old ends for only a few dollars.

older pic, (different valve cover & air cleaners now) but fuel line is the same.
This was in "transition" all stainless line now.

I just really like the look of braided stainless.

Looks aside, the braided fuel hoses can deteriorate under the braid and you will not know it until it starts leaking (had that happen on our MG). Plain black flexible line works quite well, just be sure to get the fuel injection hose (that may be the only thing you can get these days). Cheers - Dave

Aside from "looks" my biggest reason for going with stainless was recomendation from some on this board that it could help with vapor-lock problems that were a big problem at the time I did this.

I believe the Moss SS/Teflon hose is guaranteed for life; I've not had a Moss hose leak. But I still carry a set of rubber hose barb ends in the toolbox just in case.

Dave D's comment about SS hose deterioration is apt; I don't use SS brake hoses for that reason - they fail without warning. The old rubber ones, replaced every decade or so, work fine for me.

Tom,
I have had a Moss braided line leak,, "right out of the box",,, although it was quite a few years ago,,,, I'm sure their quality control has improved by now..(yeh right!)
