MG TD TF 1500 - Front Brake Assembly
I am rebuilding the front brakes and did not take pictures before disassembly and I am ready to reassemble. That being said - I need definitive answers and how the components stack (which direction) on the front axle, how to tell which side the backing plate belongs to, which way the brake cylinders point. any pictures from shop manuals would be appreciated. I also oredered a new brake flex line for the front from Moss and I ordered original - I had two different types between the front wheels - what is the original supposed to look like? I have checked the archives and there are different vairations of these answers thanks |

Backing plates are marked LH or RH.As for positioning wheel cylinders the rearmost cyl faces up and the front one faces down . You may have to instal a rubber band on the front one to keep it together while installing the shoues and springs. Sandy |

Someone posted a lovely shot of the front brakes a few weeks ago... it might be further down the page? Mine is at: http://www3.sympatico.ca/gordonblawson/td/td133.jpg |

Thank you Sandy I have installed them the way you suggested - picture of it this way in the manual - but other threads mentioned both piston pointing - did not make sense when I read it - but I thought I would aske the questions |
