MG TD TF 1500 - Foglamp Restoration

I recently acquired two SFT462 fog lamps in very decent condition. Still do not know if I will keep them and replace my 576's or sell them. I tested both and they work fine, and both have good chrome, with minor wear, but would need rechroming for concours. The reflectors are a bit dirty-ish inside and need to know if the 462 lamp assembly (the part that the bulb fits into) can be disassembled, cleaned and reassembled. I'm not sure what method is used to adhere the glass to the reflector and if this is a permanent bond or not. Any info appreciated.

Disregard my last.

Oops, hit submit too soon. OK, I don't see any way to remove the front lens from the reflector as it is formed over the edge of the glass itself, and Lucas only lists the entire reflector (#552884) in their spares catalog. So, that begs the question, is there any method to clean the insides, as once the bulb is removed there is a 1 1/4" hole in the rear of the reflector. Any non-damaging solutions that may be used?

Thanks

Larry I was able to seperate the reflector from the glass. They apparently used a cement of some sort. I just kept picking at it till I got it to come apart. Then I sent the reflectors out to be resilvered and polished.

Put it back together with JB Weld but gorilla glue should also work.

Bob:

On the two 462s I have, the reflector metal is "formed" over the edge of the glass lens in front. A lip about 1/8 - 3/16" I can't see how the glass can be removed without bending/deforming the front edge of the reflector. The glueing part shouldn't be a problem, but it's the metal that I am concerned with. These light units that fit the 462s seem to be made of "unobtanium" so I don't want to damage them. Thanks for the input.
