MG TD TF 1500 - feul line

I am very close to a first engine start so was cleaning the copper feul line and noticed a worn spot about half way down with a small pin hole. Do you think it is safe to just cut it and use a compression fitting or should I just replace the entire pipe. Looks to be about eleven feet.

Rob being not a MG expert ( yet lol) but never fool around with fuel-lines I should say.
If you have found one pin-hole take for granted that there maybe some more thin spots here and there.
Why gamble with a compression fitting ??
Just my 66 year old 2 cents.

I had to replace about 3 feet of the copper fuel line from under the pass compartment to the fuel pump,,, I used a compression fitting ,, hasn't leaked in a few years,,, One question though,,, why did the line wear??? Was uit a "thin spot"? or did it get hit by something?? If you think there will be more "thin spots", I would replace the complete line,, If it's only that one spot, use a compression fitting,,,

I would replace the entire line. The line is 55/60 years old? Copper becomes brittle to some degree after that many years. JMHO. PJ

I've used compression fittings on fuel lines several times over the years and never had a problem. However, I do know some of the copper tubing in the 60s and 70s (particularly) was suspect - this side of the Pond, anyway - because of thin spots.

I've also seen pin-holing (in domestic copper tubes, admittedly) from the late 60s, which was put down to impurities in the copper itself.

For what it's likely to cost and the time and trouble it will take to fit, I'd replace the whole line and have done with it.

It's an obvious wear spot. Nice and smooth from years of rubbing. Have no idea what it was touching. I will probably replace it all. It is a complete restoraion after all. It just seems that every time you think you will just clean a part and return it to the car you find a fault with it. oh well.
