MG TD TF 1500 - Early TD Oil Filter Adapter

Before I quit work on my TD I bought an oil filter adaptor for a spin-on oil filter from Bob Granau (spelling)? I cannot locate his email address or my notes, and I need to know the filter number for his adaptor. The adaptor fit the mounting bracket and oil lines perfectly.

Bob Grunau can be reached at: cgrunau@pathcom.com

I use Bob's adapter on my early (from an oil filter standpoint) TD and it works very well. I use a Fram PH3682 filter.

As my original air filter is an AC, I use an AC oil filter too. Number is PF-13. Works great! I saved the original filter housing, but have no plans to ever reinstall it. Our car is a '52 TD Mark II

Take a look at the study on http://members.nbci.com/minimopar/oilfilterstudy.html It is an eye opener.

Now that I have learned that there are likely better filters than the Fram PH3682 I have been using, I would like to find a substitute. A couple of Internet sites I looked at "choose" a filter for you when the automobile model and year are specified. This isn't helpful. I'm interested in a cross-reference that is organized by filter model (for example, Fram PH3682). Can anyone suggest such a website?

Thanks.

Larry,
I don't know of a website, but most major auto parts stores (Pep Boys, Trak Auto, etc.) will have a reference guide near the oil filters, put out by the filter manufacturer. Also, some manufacturers have lookups on their own websites. I just went to wixfilter.com and entered the Fram PH3682 into their "Filterfind" application and came up with a WIX 51361. Very quick if you know what brand of filter you want to use and go to their website.
