MG TD TF 1500 - Brake master cylinder reconditioning.

I am in the process of reconditioning the brake system in my 53 TD.

Regarding the master cylinder, I got the repair set from Moss, and I have some doubts,:

The rubber master cup is located around the piston stem. I see no way to install it other than stretching and pulling it over one of the protuberances (bulges?) in both ends of the piston. Any hint on how proceeding without damaging the new valve?

When I removed the internal parts of the master cylinder, I did not found the rubber valve washer in the inside, which goes just at the fluid outlet. I suppose that I must install the new included in the repair set.

And finally I dare to ask: would these new rubber parts, those in the wheel cylinders and the new flexible hoses work properly with DOT5 brake fluid? I am inclined to use DOT5, because every rubber part is going to be replaced, and I will skip a sleeving of the master cylinder, but would not like to experience any of the problems reported in the archives.

Jesus - Regarding the DOT 5 brake fluid, The only warnings that I have is to make sure that everything has been completely cleaned of any other fluid such as DOT 3 or 4 and insure that all joints are good and tight. DOT 5 fluid, like synthetic oil, will leak through the smallest hole. I have used DOT 5 in my TD for the past 20 years, installing it when I restored the car. I have never flushed the system in all those years and the fluid is still as clear today as it was when I put it in. There is no corrosion in the system anywhere. The only problem that I had was getting one of the front wheel cylinder banjo fittings to seal completely. I finally had to lap all the surfaces absolutely flat and use new coper washers to get it to stop leaking. I have since put DOT 5 fluid in our MGB, which is a daily driver and used for long trips each year.

There is no real problem with stretching the new seals over the protrudances on the piston. Just lubricate everything with some of the DOT 5 fluid or use a silicone brake cylinder assembly lubricant.
