MG TD TF 1500 - A quick drive...

Am working on a magnetic camera mount... it needs work....

When you first took off I thought you hit the nitrous button. Whats that nasty thing hanging from your lip (yeah me too). Very cool..I went out for about an hour today in the TF. May strap the camera to it and show you a good MG driving road tomorrow.

Have a bit of work to do on the mount but it worked ok...just one of those magnetic flashlight holders, but with two more 'legs' and magnets i think it will be a neat little mount....

If you did the same as I, that would be an AH electric starter solenoid. I hid two microswitches in the bottom edge of the dash in unobtrusive places, one at each hand, so that it looks like it just starts itself. You have to push both at the same time. I really like how it jumped to life.

Thanks for the ride Gordon, very nice sound coming from your engine. I too noticed the push button start. Very cool. Looks like it was a very nice day for a nice little ride.

Gordon:

I don't like to mention this but there appears to be something wrong with your camera - it reverses left and right. Makes it appear that you are sitting on the wrong side!

Were those parking metres along the roadside? Surely you too are not so afflicted.

Nice ride.

....its an MGB solenoid....p/o set it up with an old Austin/Morris push button.... it usually starts right up, but even I was surprised how it started ... our town loves those meters....only take $1.00 and $2.00 coins as well.....

Nice video. Perhaps a gyrostabilized mount is next? White Saturn in the Drive? Didja get a new car?

Gordon;

I noticed you have a Bluemels steering wheel with bent spokes on your car and on your website.

Is this something you did (perhaps to reduce the diameter and/or make it fit the driver better) or was the wheel originally that way?

I've got a Bluemels wheel that I want to put on my TD eventually, but I haven't decided what to do to restore it. The existing bakelite rim is too far gone to restore, so I would either have to have it remolded or a wood rim put on it. The spokes are straight, but I might be interested in having them bent, if that is an option.

Nice ride Gordon. I wish my TD transmission would stay in 1st as well as yours does.

What do you use to edit the video Gordon and how did you keep all the wind noise out?
LaVerne

....new renter in Mom's apartment.... she got it just as Saturn closed...they dropped the price $10,000

The wheel is stock....two or three experts mention they hadn't seen a dished Bluemels before. It is about an inch larger in diameter then the stock TD, and the handling increased amazingly...

Haha...I hate the wind noise... it was suggested a piece of foam over the mic....will give that a try. I added another foot to the mount today and it should be much steadier....(i edited out the two times I reached back to straighten it)....

Have never had a problem with first...it moves a bit if i back off without going to 2nd, but doesn't pop out....

I imported the camera footage into iMovie on the mac and used that for editing....quite sophisticated actually.... (it doesn't accept .avi so had to change to .mov in another program first)....

Bill.... turn your monitor upside down.....
gblawson(gordon- TD27667)

By the way Bill.... I just read the funniest thing i've read in years....written by an Australian living now in the States....:

The four seasons in Australia consist of "f*ck it's hot", "Can you believe how f*cking hot it is?", "I won't be in today because it is too f*cking hot" and "Yes, the dinner plate size spiders come inside to escape from the heat.

hahahaha...i'm still laughing....
gblawson(gordon- TD27667)

Thanks Gordon. Did a littlem drive with way too much footage and was gonna size it down and the editor said nope...hmmm. All I got was wind noise after about 10 mph. May try agian.

Two seasons in an upper town associated with where I used to work.....Winter and the 4th of July.
LaVerne

Portland also only has 2 seasons - its raining and the 4th of July. Can't wait for July!

Gordon:
I did as you suggested: turned the monitor upside down and re-ran the film.

To my surprise, the driver immediately tumbled down to the bottom of the screen, in a shower of miscellanious nuts, bolts and screws, as well as a couple of items that I should be embarrased to name but indicate that the owner has not forgotten the use for a car seat that he learnt in his youth.

It is all very confusing.

....ok...here is our drive yesterday to Ancaster....rain, sleet, snow, cold, wind.....you know....one of those great LBC days.....

Gordon, how's chances of a peak at your camera mount? Bud
Bud Krueger (TD10855)

....I used the old one for this one...still am working on the other one....

gblawson(gordon- TD27667)

Gordon, the Ancaster video seems to have been taken with the camera to the left of the driver. Is it mounted on the windscreen pivot? Thanks. Bud
Bud Krueger (TD10855)

No, I used the screw to the left of the wheel instead of the one in the photo
gblawson(gordon- TD27667)

Ah so! Thank you, kind sir. Bud
Bud Krueger (TD10855)

I like the way you drive the car- like it was meant to be driven! Looks like a lot of fun events up your way. Neat videos too. Lucky you have a Mac to edit it on. George
