I always thought that your radio had to have a live connection all of the time to store your stations etc. You can easily get into the radio from above by taking out the centre air vent. Slip something thin and broad under the adge of the plastic and pull it out of the dash. It just pushes back in again. Watch you don't mark or break anything though. You don't need to take the dash out.

I suspect that it's something else that is draining your battery - search the archives (you need to join, but it's free). If you go to Maplins you can get a current tester (about £10) that fits into your fuse holder under the bonnet and lets you check each circuit in turn to see what is drawing on the power. I bet it's one of your ECU fuses.

If your battery is the original, it probably needs changing, particularly if you don't use the vehicle a lot, or it does short journeys.

Take the car to a reputable exhaust and battery place. They will check it for you.

I had this problem a short while back. New battery solved problem instantly.

Good luck!
