MG MGF Technical - Winter work

Dear all,

I have a 1995 1.8i MGF and need to do some TLC repairs this holiday season.

1) I recently hit a deer (not uncommon in my bit of the world) and the bumper has a little split. Ideally, I'd like to replace the bumper if I can find one at a good price (I've contacted the MGF Centre) but I also need new screws for the bumper, and for mud-flaps, wheel-arch trims etc. (the existing ones are so corroded!). Does anyone know where to buy a pack of assorted screws and fixings or do I need to order specific ones?

2) The other "injury" is a slight crack to the top right bracket for the headlight, just a couple of cm from the nut. There may also be some damage to the bottom of the headlamp unit, but I can't see that without taking things apart. This has had the effect that the headlamp unit drops by a few mill; most noticeable as a bigger gap between it and the bumper. Other than replacement (recently done), any ideas what sort of glue or other device would hold the light in the correct position?

3) Much to my annoyance, I have the traditional passenger-side leak. I've never suffered from this before. Does anyone know the type of socket required to adjust the cheater? I can't tell whether it is a Torx or a Star and nothing I have lists the size and I don't have a complete set to play with.

4) Finally, it is getting impossible to find water-shedders at dealers, but all the manuals say to renew them if you are getting leaks. Any bright ideas on where to find them?

Thanks as always for the excellent advice.

Chaz

Thanks

Thanks to Adrian for the advice on where to get stuff.

Any comments on what to do with the headlight bracket or the type of fixing that you have to undo to adjust the cheater for a passenger side leak?

Thanks
