MG MGF Technical - windstop
what do you think about windstops? what's the best windstop? I like mike satur windbreak screen (it give a better rear view and it's less "dark"), have you something to say to me? there are some others windstops that are made by "glass"? I view (in www.mgf.ultimatemg.com/windstop_data.htm) that mike satur windstop gives more nois and more cold that others do. In one phrase: what windstop do you suggest to me? why? thanks |

Mike Satur's glass windstop has changed considerably since the blue wig test. Would be interesting to rerun! New windstop bigger and easier to fit I believe. I have a newton commercial windstop, which I (and more importantly) the wife find to be very good at stopping the back-draft. It was also rather 'cost-effective', hence the reason for buying it. But it does do a good job. Though I find mine flops forward when driving at high speeds, so the hinge mechanism could use some re-inforcement. Asthetics also play a part. If you want I glass screen, I suggest Mike's. I can't comment on it's abiliy, only that of the Newton, however others that have his windstop have commented to me faviourably. Leigh |

I have the Newton and found it effective. Pivot did come loose but a set of nylocs cured that. MGR costs more and needs 2 small holes making in the plastic t-bar. These are no problem as they are covered by the windstop. MS look good, several owners have said it is not as effective as MGR and/or Newton but people used to teeter around on platform shoes so cult and looks can override function. All my opinions only. |

I used to have an NC windstop and found it very effective. I recently had Boxers fitted along with the taller version of Mike's glass windstop. To be honest I don't notice much of a difference except that rear vision is better. |

I have the Newton Comm windstop which I keep upright all the time, even when hood is up. It's a good unit, looks attractive, simple to install without drilling holes in the T-bar trim and is effective. Phil |

Link to that aforementioned 'blue wig test': http://www.mgf.ultimatemg.com/windstop_data.htm Hmm, a re-test? I'm sure I still have that wig stashed somewhere... ;o) |

do you know how to install new MikeSatur windstop (windbreak screen)? Do I need to pierce my mgtf? and for mgrover (or newton commercial) windstop? please, suggest me about they. I'm going to buy a windstop. If I decide to by mikesatur one I need to buy it by internet (without direct viewing it before purchase it) and I dislike to risk a useless spent. hi |

The MGR windstop needs 2 holes piercing in the plastic t-bar. The Newton windstop fixes to existing locations under the t-bar. |

And the Mike Satur 'stop is fitted using the three screws/poppers used for attaching the tonneau cover to the T-bar Jonty |
