MG MGF Technical - Upgrading Brakes - Fitting in Hampshire

As my front break disks need replacing and I want to upgrade to the bigger sets any advice on where to get them done in Hampshire. I've already tried Micheldever, Merityre etc, but won't fit non supplied kit and don't supply EBC etc. MS is 500 mile round trip and B&G is still a pain in the proverbial.MGR will want me to sell them my soul so thats probably a non-starter.

I could probably fit them my self, but although happy to play with engines and fit K&N etc, brakes are a little more crucial to avoiding the odd stray deer and mad pheasant on the fast back road to Whitchurch

Any one know of anybody in the Newbury, Basingstoke area who either will supply and fit EBC or will fit MS Big Brake Kits etc

Hi David,

I am fairly close and have done EBC (PAD) changes already (very easy) and was looking to do my F with bigger brakes, but ended up buying a TF160 (a bit of an overkill for a brake upgrade I know). But if you deceide to do it your self, I can give you a hand.

Thanks for the offer.

TF is probably an overkill just to get the uprated breaks. Mind you if I get the Trophy brakes which I assume come on the TF160 it looks like new wheels so thats going to cost a bit. Hhhmm maybe you're onto something. Sod brakes buy new car. Somehow I don't think I'll get away with that.

It I do decide to DIY it, I'll give you a shout.

I haven't yet done any major work on my wife's F but I've been working on midgets, BV8 and Montegos for too many years. Happy to lend a hand and prob nearer to you than most...(Wokingham)

Go for Mike Satur 280mm conversion kit : for 200 GBP, you get big discs (vented & drilled) + spacer for the calippers. The quality is excellent, but there are no fitting instructions (however, it's not too difficult to figure how to fit the spacers, bolts, ...)
Fitting is no rocket science, but removing the old discs requires some brute force ; the rear discs come off much more easily (I fitted EBC grooved at the rear)
And when you're at it, go also for stainless braided hoses and DOT 5.1 fluid.
The whole job took me 8 hours, along with oil change, brakepads change and K&N cleaning, and with some poor tools :(

Thanks for your comments, but now it gets confusing.

1) EBC Turbo grooved and EBC green stuff Pads 100.15 inc VAT and delivery. Spareshq

2) MS Big Brake Kit + Greens 269 inc VAT + Delivery

3) B&G Big Brake Kit (EBC) 375 + Delivery.

Have searched archives and found a multitude of ideas comments etc, but fundamentally for road use is it worth going more than the number one.

At the end of the day I'll probably go no further, in terms of power enhancement, than adding a sports exhaust to the K&N already fitted. In which case I can get MGR in Basingstoke to fit the disks and pads them for 75 (I've actually found them very good, never had a problems with them. Service Manager is always keen to talk about how they can upgrade my car and very K&N etc friendly with regards to warranty),whilst I'm at work. Less time under car, not much more than they were going to charge me for standards and more time out in the sun!

Anyway, comments and opinions gratefully received
