MG MGF Technical - Two questions

Four questions:

1) Red Line Water Wetter: likely to help prevent HGF?

2) Dinitrol or Waxoyl: which is better?

3) Will rustproofing the F invalidate the 6 year anti-corrosion warranty.

4) What kind of difference would fitting lowering knuckles make to the insurance loading?

Don't you just love my idiosyncratic attitude to mathematics?
Mr Peebles

mr pee i fitted lowering knuckles to mine ,spax adj shocks royal sun alliance who i had been insured with for years and no claims refused to continue my cover im,e 50year old not exactly boy racer but after telling them to stick it i rang pete best mg specialist ins and they covered me no problem in fact they were about 30 cheaper , have also got s/steel super sports exhaust,K&N filter, spoiler and more stuff ,rang pete best to advise and see if any problem ands there is none at all,so all i can say is go for the lowering because it is a lot better looks wise also not having the big wheel arche gap and if your ins gives you grief change ins . cheers DAVE T6 DCM.

>>1) Red Line Water Wetter: likely to help prevent HGF?<<

Ancedotal story in answer to this: Graeme Bishko put some 'Water Wetter' into his cooling system. About a month later, the head gasket on his '97 VVC failed. Co-incidence, but would suggest that Water Wetter is no miracle cure, and *may* in fact, react with chemicals in the coolant anti-freeze/ anti-corrosion mixture.

>>2) Dinitrol or Waxoyl: which is better?<<

No idea. May depend on the area that you are wanting to protect, and ease of application.

>>3) Will rustproofing the F invalidate the 6 year anti-corrosion warranty.<<

No, but do check with your supplying dealership first. At worst, it may affect your 6-year anti-perforation warranty - but this is unlikely to cause you any heart ache!!! LOL

>>4) What kind of difference would fitting lowering knuckles make to the insurance loading? <<

Depends on your insurer. Mine had no problem with them, so long as the car was not 'absurdly low'. It isn't, so they aren't. :o)

1. no
2. please define 'better'
3. ask the warranty provider for a definitive view
4. it varies by insurer, so ask them
David
