MG MGF Technical - Steering Problems
Hi, I have just noticed a problem on my "F"... If I centre the steering wheel and pull away without touching the steering wheel, the wheel pulls sharply to the left. I took it to a tyres shot to get the tracking looked at and they said it would be something more serious...:¬( Any idea's..?? Many thanks Andrew |

It could be the power steering, look through the archive where you will find the answer. If you are a good mechanic it is a DIY repair BUT be careful of people saying you need expensive parts. |

Yes, indeed difficult and may get expensive. See here for some impressions about the EPAS http://www.mgfcar.de/epas/index.htm Sounds like troubles with connectors or the torque sensor. http://www.mgf.ultimatemg.com/group2/common_problems/epas_reset/index.htm I may repeat, this is not an easy DIY job. Our instructions on the web are for sure not for straight forward works but need some good electrician and mechanic experiance and skills. |

Just to echo what Dieter has just said really - could be the EPAS steering column sensor going out of alignment. I'd check all the simple things first - like the ECU contacts (the ECU is located above the glove box - clean everything with contact cleaner spray!), but if that doesn't work, then see a specialist, or if you feel confident in what you're doing, carefully adjust the steering column sensor. |
