MG MGF Technical - Smoke gets in my eyes!!
Hi! This morning took the car out for a spin, I parked up at a local pub (for a coke, honestly) and noticed smoke coming from my exhaust. This was after the engine had been turned off for about 30 seconds. I had razzed it a bit (about 10 mins). Anyone any ideas? Its also a bit jerky but I think thats to do with it needing a service and the K&N needing cleaning. Regards James |

Hi James What colour was the smoke? |

Morning Paul, White smoke, similar to a cold morning when the car is ticking over. Regards James |

Oh Oh, White steam, coming out the tail pipes for several minutes after the car has been turned off. The first time I noticed that on my car, it had a massive HGF the next day. Check your coolant level. In my car if I had checked I would have noticed a dropping coolant level, I didn't and now I getting a new engine. My car was also a bit jerky by the way, that was to do with water pissing into the cylinders thru a broken gasket(and by now damaged cylinder head)and not being compressed making the car feel like it had a fuel blockage or something. Be careful, check it out, watch that coolant tank like a hawk. Good luck. |

Ok here is another, all fluid levels ok, car runs ok, when I stop it smokes! On tick over it is quite excesive, when I reverse into the garage it is most noticable, when driving I get none, I thought it needed a good run to clear the cylinders but had a thrash out at the weekend, and still get the smoke on tick over. The smoke is dark and it does not do it when it is cold, any thoughts? Mike |
