MG MGF Technical - Radiator required

I have just suffered a catastrophic radiator failure, the bottom matrix mounting frame has corroded and dropped away from the main matrix; The car is a P Reg VVC with 78000 on the clock. Is this a common fault with MGF ? Also, I have tried all the local spare parts dealers for a reasonable priced replacement, but the reply is always they no longer stock mg spares, MGOC prices seem a bit steep 147. Any ideas where I can get a reasonably priced replacement.

Mike Satur does aluminium F/TF for about £125 IIRC also does a larger capacity one as well. Also does under floor alli coolant pipes which may be worth checking out while your at it.

Thanks, Mike has just sent me a PM, I will give his office a call on Monday to order one. I have checked the hoses and they all seem fine. I have only found two bleed points so far; are there any phoo traps I should be wary of after fitting the new one.

Removing the original battery ground cable and replacing with a suitable diam. one all the way back to the alternator saves the radiator. I had the opportunity to measure currents in the body as well as EMC E and H-fields a few years ago when on a "rolling road". The generator charge current moves in mysterious ways until it reaches the original ground lug. Also the induced magnetic field along the drivers side (European =left side) was very high. Even higher than on a non-modified V70... In wet conditions every transition starts an electrolyse where the least metal in the chain has to sacrifice. / Carl.

Steve, it was the aluminium one, as far as I can tell I bled the system ok, the radiator heats up, the car heater is blowing hot; and a 100 mile road run showed no problems. However if I changed another one I would replace the original hose clips with jubilee clips, as getting the bottom one back on was a pain.
