MG MGF Technical - MK1 AirBox and getting rid of said?

Just a quick question. Does anybody have a quick way of removing the mk1 airbox? The one that seams to have been built into the car. I have a hacksaw at the ready but was wondering if there is a method to do it with out it taking for ever.

We got back from Silverstone last night and had a great time. It was nice to finaly put some faces to the names.

Why bother? I fitted a K&N many years ago and removed the old filter box but just left the resonator box in place - it does no harm and blocks a huge hole which will allow muck into the engine bay.

Because I want to use the space to chanel the inlet for my enclosed induction kit from the offside air intake up.

In that case Andrew I think you have answered your own question - hacksaw or good shears, unless of course you want to dismantle the rear of the car!

:-)

Yup thought that. Just thought that there may be a method of cut there, pull and hay presto no air box.

Unfortunately, Ted is right - cutting it up with a hack saw is the only option unless you drop the subframe to release it.

:-(

oh well. Thanks.

Rob, did you work out the chicane?

A.
AndrewMc

No - he just re-arranged it:-)

Oh no, really? . Watched a B do much the same.

:-(
AndrewMc

Yup. Another layer of paint needs to be applied to the bumper! LOL Ah, well, that's racing for you. ;o)
Rob Bell

Oh dear and just when we were watching the B. Pitty the phone rang then.! Lol.
AndrewMc

Yeah - I think I was attempting a similar line to that chap too. I don't think that it works ;o)
Rob Bell

But Rob... was your time a fast one?!?!?

That's all that matters. ;) ;) ;)

Where was the spint track ths year?

Paul Nothard

Well at least you now know for sure. ;-) If you don't try these things you will never know . Bull bars might be a good addition. :-)

AndrewMc

Paul, the bloody tyres slowed me down by 2 seconds. Should have kept on the throttle ;o) Andrew - you're right, bull bars will be on the car for next year if the stewards decide to make the chicane that tight again next year! LOL
