MG MGF Technical - Lamda Sensor error even though I have replaced the

Help....

I have a MG TF 160 2003. Recently the Engine management light came engine became is very sluggish. so i took it to the garage who said it was the 02 sensors.

I had them both replaced and as I was driving home the light came on again.

I took it back and the chap replaced both sensors again and cleared the fault code...

A mile later.. the light is back on and the engine is very sluggish.

Anyone had this same problem. I have had a look around I have not modified the CAT or anything in the engine.

Any ideas...

Look forward to your reply

It could be that the sensor is fine and it's the cat that is damaged? A failed cat would give the same effect.

If its a 2003 car the ECU should be OBD II compliant which means that you should be able to connect it to a code reader and check the lamdba sensor voltages to ensure that they are in limits.

You can buy an ELM327 interface and software on E-bay for about 30, I have used one of these on many cars with great success, however I have never tried an mgtf as the car I had was an F and was pre OBD II compliance.
