MG MGF Technical - Lamda Sensor error even though I have replaced the
Help.... I have a MG TF 160 2003. Recently the Engine management light came engine became is very sluggish. so i took it to the garage who said it was the 02 sensors. I had them both replaced and as I was driving home the light came on again. I took it back and the chap replaced both sensors again and cleared the fault code... A mile later.. the light is back on and the engine is very sluggish. Anyone had this same problem. I have had a look around I have not modified the CAT or anything in the engine. Any ideas... Look forward to your reply Jane ;) |

It could be that the sensor is fine and it's the cat that is damaged? A failed cat would give the same effect. |

If its a 2003 car the ECU should be OBD II compliant which means that you should be able to connect it to a code reader and check the lamdba sensor voltages to ensure that they are in limits. You can buy an ELM327 interface and software on E-bay for about £30, I have used one of these on many cars with great success, however I have never tried an mgtf as the car I had was an F and was pre OBD II compliance.
