MG MGF Technical - Ignition leads

Recently purchased my MGF VVC to find after a particulary wet night that starting was a problem.

Further searhing seems F's are pretty prone to this- is the truly the case?

Can anyone please recommend some good replacement ignition leads? as a initial problem solver.

thanks
S Brigham

Magnacore leads from B&G or MS, lifetime gaurantee.

The VVC has it's coils in a bad position, and you might find the coils are dying (but try leads first).
Alternativly some fridge magnet strip on the back of a numberplate will nicely cove the holes in the bootlid when you leave the car.

Leads are definitely a cause of poor starting as are oldish plugs. If you look at the MGF FAQ on

http://homepage.ntlworld.com/dotcomoff

or on Rob's site (might be an old link so check)

www.mgf.4mg.com

you will find details on how to change them and information on wet starting problems. Also the archives of this site are really worth the effort to view, though the search engine is really crap so it may take some time to find what you want.

Hi all,

a short notice to the regular reading *oldies* regarding the well known sometimes occuring ignition coil problem at VVC.

Had a look recently to the TF workshop manual ... The non VVC TF's have now a similar looking coil installed like the old VVC. Not sure, but I recall having NOT seen any distributor at the MPI.

May be interesting to keep in mind for the next *wet* aughtum mist and upcoming starting probs at mgtf MPI. ;)
