MG MGF Technical - How to install a throttle Tb 52mm
Hi, my F is a 98 1.8i and I would like to know if is difficult to replace my old plastic TB for a new alloy body 52mm, I have also a new K&N 75i kit to install, about this one I have the assembling instructions in the box and it looks like an easy job, but the TB I don’t have a single clue. Maybe when I dismantle the old one I figure how to install the new part. Any tips or advices I would appreciate. Anyway I am still waiting for more than tree weeks for the part from my MGR dealer, and nothing yet. Thanks, Joao |

Nothing to worry about, mate. - remove engine cover (11 bolts) - pull off the hoses from the old TB (careful) - bolt off the S-Shape 70mm hose clamps (K&N kit has one new) - pull Sensor plug (press on the wire bracket, not pull!!) http://www.mgfcar.de/teile/Dcp_0653.jpg (not that one, but similar 2 position plug) - bolt off the four flange bolts of the TB. Bolt on and plug on reverse and don't forget the hoses. See that the new TB is good sealed against the inlet plenum. :) K&N installation of the cold air pipes is anywere else. HTH Dieter |

The installation instructions for the K&N are on http://www.mgf.ultimatemg.com I am now in possession of a 52mm TB, so when I fit it, I'll take a pictorial record and post it - but as Dieter says, it is a direct, bolt-on replacement for the existing TB. :o) |

Which Vauxhall/Opel does it come from? (though I don't think Marion would appreciate my removing the one from her car :-) ) Neil. |

Joao, Don't forget to reset the throttle after fitting the TB. See "Stepper Motor" thread. Jason H |

Hi, So the external dimensions are exactly the same on the 48mm and on the 52mm, right? And all the hoses will connect the same way and on the same positions? See João, it looks very easy. Seems we have work to do when the TB arrives... :) Cheers, Valter. |

Hi guys, today me and Valter installed the K&N and the new alloy TB in my F, the part reference MHB000090, does not mach the two other references that Dieter gave me the other day, that were MHB102140 for the alloy 48mm and the MHB000261 for the alloy 52mm. So I realy don’t know if my TB is a 48mm or a 52mm, I don’t had with me any precise measure equipment, but the car is great with a sound blast throttle response, or maybe could only the K&N make the difference. Anyway thank you Valter for a nice MG workshop Saturday morning :) Bye Joao |

Joao, got the pictures. Thank you. I'm afraid but I've currently no idea on what version the part number reffers to. I'm off now for some sunny vacancie days. Will be back ón June 4th. See you Dieter |
