MG MGB Technical - Wiring Connectors. .Do you know?

67 BGT.... Bought the original style cloth wiring harness for my GT restoration from British Wiring and it is VERY nice. High quality and looks great too! Good folks at British Wiring. The proble I have encountered is this car was without an original harness and although I have a great diagram, I have no reference for the Sleeve CONNECTION or CONNECTORS of the bullet on the new harness to the various lamps etc. Is there any reference to indicate if, for example, a double wiring connector was used in a particular spot or if two single connectors were used. I spoke to British Wiring and they do not have an application reference and do not know the number or type needed to do a particular car and model. The new harness has the spade connectors where appropriate, like the coil and early brake switch. but the lighting and other connections all need the sleeve connectors to connect the bullets on the new harness to the bullets on the various new bits like headlamps, taillamps etc. I guess I could use all singles but I know doubles were used in several locations. Can you provide me a reference on the lighting and other main locations. Perhaps even a good photo or even a color wiring reference. I kind of wanted to get it right if possible. If not I probably will count bullet ends on the new harness and end up buying a box of singles..... Cheers Ralph 67BGT

Advance Auto-Wire has excellent schematics at http://www.advanceautowire.com/mgb.pdf, on these the bullet sleeves are represented by white rectangles and just by counting the connections to each of these you should be able to wire your car appropriately. One in - one out is of course a single, with doubles taking care of up to one in - three out. More than that shouldn't be needed according to the schematics.

Good luck! I look forward to the wiring up and connecting stage of my rebuild, but there is still a lot of work to do...

Thanks Johan! Exactly what I needed to get it correct and keep it simple. Your are right about that being an excellent source as well. Nothing quite like when the new wiring goes in to make you feel like all the work is becoming a reality! Cheers Ralph
