MG MGB Technical - Surging?

I am looking to get a 1966 MGB GT but it has a surging problem. What could be the cause of that and is it easily fixed?
Christopher

Check the easiest thing first. Look at the carbs to see if the dashpots have oil in them and that the pistons move freely. Other than that don't mess with anything else on the carbs until the ignition timing has been set and the valves adjusted.

I will try that. He did just replace the carbs so maybe he didn't get them and everything else adjusted properly. Thanks
Chris

Can't help but wonder why he's replaced the carbs. Surging?

Make sure the gaskets between the air filters and the carbs are installed correctly. Inverted they block the passages to the piston chambers.

I had this problem once. The top of threaded dash pot piston rod broke off on one of my carbs so I glued it back on. Unfortunatly I also pluged the vent hole with glue and this is a critical hole. Once I drilled out the glue from the vent hole, it cured the surge.
