MG MGB Technical - SU HS4 overflow pipes - Where?

I wonder if anyone could describe the routing of the fuel overflows on a 70 Roadster, Standard HS4 carbs. I read Pauls site and I have the brackets in place (On the fuel pump blank) but no pipes. I assume these are metal as it will geta bit warm(!) routed round (Behind?) the exhaust pipes. The front pipe I suspect is the simpler one but the rear has me baffled. While on the subject what are the pipes made of? MG parts list it as supplied in 1M lengths but not the material

Copper brake pipe is the thing you want. Bend the pipes up and using P clips bolt them on to the front and rear petrol pump blanking plate bolts.

The original overflow pipes were made of steel. RAY

I have posted pics of my 66 build car on here , it will be archived. I cant recall which hard drive those pics are on now, never mind which directory they are in.

Yes the original overflow pipes were steel but that corrodes and gets generally grotty whilst copper can be easily polished up and looks much smarter.

Yes. putting this into words is hard work. Here is the other end. The one from the rear carb follows a similar route.

Thanks again Stan. Now all I have to do is source some pipe. I agree that copper would look 'nicer' but steel will do and I don't agree with paying >£7 for each from Moss etc. Odd thing on Moss is that F/R are the same, I would expect the rear one to be significantly longer. At least MG Parts do it by the Mtr
